SOTD Saturday 22nd to Friday 28th Aug 2020

Tue 25 SOTD
Soap Stirling Orange Chill
Brush Yaqi 26mm Orange Black Synthetic
Razor Gillette Tech
Blade BiC Chrome Platinum 3rd
Post & Aftershave
Ice Water + Special Thayers
Hyaluronic + Reuzel Wood & Spice
Re-used yesterday's extra lather. Looks dried up in the bowl but upon adding some water and working with the brush...a nice creamy and slick lather developed. Plenty for 4passes with nice orange scent and menthol feel.
Shave with razor paired with this blade was very good. Easy, relaxing, smooth and comfortable 3+1 multiple direction passes. No issues at all. Like glass feel...bbs! Should use this razor more. Simple, cheap but very good & efficient for me.
Icy water rinse followed by Thayers then soothed by Hyaluronic and lastly Reuzel. Rating 9.8/10

Brush - Omega 11819 (24mm/55mm)
Soap - Tabac Stick
Razor - Fat Handle Tech
Blade - Gillette Nacet (6)
Post - Witch Hazel
Balm - Nivea Cooling Kick
Splash - Superdrug Forest Fresh

In today's shave the Nacet/FHT combination was so smooth and comfortable it felt like I was shaving without a blade in the razor; a marked contrast to yesterday's shave where the Nacet in the Yaqi Old Type clone didn't quite feel right, a reminder to myself it's really important to pair the right blade with the right razor.

The lather wasn't the best I've had with Tabac, not enough soap and too much water but it still managed to see out the shave.

Have a good day gents.

Farewell Shave

Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Rooney 1/3 Super Silvertip Badger
Cream: Santa Maria Novella
Razor: Merkur Futur
Blade: Vintage NOS Gillette Swede (1)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel; Proraso Green Splash
Scent: Musgo Real Classic

On Friday evening, I lost my dearest friend, after a ten year battle with cancer. I was privileged to be holding his hand as he slipped away. We were inseparable since schoolboys.
He was a passionate wet shaver, but too shy to do much posting.

His Wife asked me if I could shave him on his final day; a great honour that I gladly accepted. Unfortunately, his birth razor was at his home. He had a two week growth, so I needed some blade gap.
The Futur was one of his favourite razors, so I packed it up with a selection of gear and headed to the hospital, where I shaved him, and stayed with him until the end.

Tonight, I reproduce the shave, as a tribute to my dear friend.

Rest easy, my Brother.
