Lime/Citrus Creams Shave-off

Razor: Schick Type L
Blade: NOS Schick (3)
Brush: Semogue 730HD
Soap: ES Citrus Kiss
Pre: Azur Lime
ASL: Signature Soaps Hibernia
ASB: Creightons

3 passes today for a great finish. The ES Citrus Kiss cream still remains one of my favourites. Performance is up there with Trumpers and the scent is a nice fresh citrus scent without the acidic edge. No problems producing quality lather for the 3 passes with the small Semogue.

Once again, the Hibernia proves its versatility by working well with the Citrus Kiss. The Schick continues to impress me as well.

I suppose I should close this exercise out somehow. In terms of performance, the TOBS was back of the pack. This isn't a damning assessment though as it still performed perfectly fine. Joint first are the Trumpers and ES creams. They both performed excellently.

Scent wise, I can't choose a favourite. Each of these is different and brings something unique to the party.

So what have we learnt from this? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Just buy the 3 creams and add them to your densely populated dens.

Edit: Typo

I used my Mondial 1908 Bergamot and Tangerine cream today, I face lathered but will bowl lather in future as I have broken the tube lid, either that or transfer it into a tub.

Interesting and valuable research. I haven't used ES cream, I've found TOBS to be better than GFT. Not tried any of these scents though.

Having re-read my post, I think the statement you've highlighted was a poor choice of words by me and has probably done the Lime Zest a disservice. I've personally found that the Trumpers and ES creams perform better overall but I still hugely enjoy my TOBS creams - there's 10 of them in my den. The two new TOBS scents are great as well.

I have the Mondial Bergamot and Neroli. It's a soft croap. Is that the same thing you've mentioned? I've yet to use it but it smells great. I've enjoyed the other Mondial products I've used.

Trumpers is a pretty good scent, if you like lime (i'm not mad on it...) I got rid of ES Citrus Kiss without even using it, scent to my nose was too similar to bathroom cleaner, up there with TOBS lemon+lime for nasty.

Another citrus fruit cream I can recommend would be the Italian Saponificio Bignoli Mediterranean Citrus, scent is like a fresh juicy fruit salad... Nice and refreshing.

No, it's different. It comes in a deluxe tube, it's very subdued. It's not as strong as Bergamot and Neroli, which I have lots of...
I also have the TFS croap and AS.

I want some of your bathroom cleaner :D

Good shout on the agrumi del mediterraneo. I'll use that next and report back here.

@Boycie83 youll need to add TOBS Grapefruit cream to your experiment. It's the best citrus cream out there...I should know...ive tried...well...just that one  ...but its probably my favourite soap outside of Denali.
Denali is my favourite all-time shaving soap but I have recently been giving creams another chance (for some reason I never really liked most) but this thread has opened up some interesting areas for experimentation around citrus creams:

1. I'd really like to know more about the TOBS Grapefruit - anyone else rate this highly? (My only current TOBS is Royal Forest)

2. I finished a pot of TOBS Lemon & Lime a while back and for some reason I haven't replaced it yet...it was always great when using Ach Brito Glyce Lime soap as a pre-shave wash and GFT Lime Skin Food as a post-shave. I've just got 7 bars of that, so maybe I'll invest in the Lemon & Lime cream again... or is there a better citrus cream?

3. @Boycie83 maybe you should add TOBS Lemon & Lime to your test list, Chris!

I can see that this is one of those threads that's hit me in the wallet because I just started thing of buying new creams:eek:

You'll not be disappointed with the Grapefruit if you buy it. As with all the TOBs tubs, it'll last a long time as well. Lovely clean scent that is a good mirror to the real thing.
