SOTD : Saturday 11th July - Friday 17th July 2020

Out of the two dorco blades i've used so far over the past two weeks then the Dorco prime platinum would be the winner because for it's was smooth & efficient longevity throughout each shave adding to that i feel as though i could have got 1-2 more shaves from the prime platinum, as today the ST300 was just starting to lose it's smooth edge on it's 4th outing but only by a small amount.

That said, regardless to the make of the blade i normally only use it for 2-4 shaves, SE blades 4-6 shaves max then it's binned. Anyway, all in all both blades have made a big impression on me and will be adding them more frequently to my blade rotation.

Next week i'll will be testing out the Lancet Super platinum blade another blade i've had for a while but have yet to try.

I've only used the one Dorco blade, the Dorco Titan which wasn't the sharpest blade I have used but smooth, it reminded me of a Voskhod in some ways, I need to revisit it.

I've been using a LSP recently and it takes a few shaves to smoothen out but it works a treat after that, I've been using one in a Fat Handle/Ball End Tech with great success, I think you'll enjoy this blade.

16/7/20

Prep- splosh of soft Scottish water
Soap- TOBS sandalwood
Brush- Simpson Trafalgar T3
Razor- Gillette Fatboy
Blade- Feather (1)
Post- Cold water rinse/alum
A/S- Cella

Second shave with the old 61 fatboy and it's so damn cool. Buttery smooth 3 passes set at 7. My futur gets me slightly closer but the 195 is just so damn efficient and not aggressive in the slightest. Even with the feather blade it was so mild feeling. 60 years old next year and the old fatty is still going strong.

Yesterday 15 July

PAA Harvest Moon
Simpson M7 Manchurian
Parker Variant (2)
Feather Hi-stainless (2)
Bart's Balm Amber and Moroccan Jasmine

Yesterday's shave was so rough that it was barely worth writing about. Two days growth and, despite a fabulous lather from the PAA soap, the razor was rough, no nicks, but rough. I had turned it down to 2 from the previous shave at 2.5 which did give me a couple of nicks, but still... Was it the blade or the razor? I checked the razor and all looked well. I hadn't inadvertently put the head on the wrong way around.

Today 16 July

Same shave
Except:
Parker Variant (2.5)
Gillette Silver Blue (1)
Order restored. Smooth and efficient shave today with a new GSB in the place of a rare ragged Feather. Thankfully, I have only once or twice had a bad Feather blade, this one was dangerous and made me doubt myself, my ability and the razor. Fortunately there was a simple solution, bin it.

Thur 16th July

RazoRock Syn. 24mm
P & B Spitfire
ER 1924 + S/S Handle
Gem S/S [ 3 ]
P & B Spitfire A/S Splash

This rather Care Worn ER 1924 is perhaps overshadowed by the 1914, but I prefer the 1924 fitted with a longer handle . As usual todays Shave was very smooth and I had no problems getting a decent close all round finish.

Good evening everyone

Pre- Proraso Blue
Soap- Signature Soaps Britannia
Brush- Ex S Medium Jock 24mm Synth
Razor- Rockwell 6S (R4)
Blade- Astra SP #4
Post- Osma Alum block
Balm- Proraso Blue
Splash- Floïd Mentally Vigorously

I love this soap, if it came with a plastic spoon I'd eat it, (don't try this at home kids).
All the above seemed to fall into place tonight, skin feeling soft and cool and my step son is staying at Grandmas this evening.............
