Chinese Razor Month

I bought a well know splash in USA at Christmas and looked at ingredients (only alcohol and witch hazel with a fragrance oil) and thought (that's) just astringent and no conditioning benefits. To be fair it was quite a nice fragrance but for $13 dollars it's not good value for users. So I though I can do better than that and played around with blends and am pleased with outcome. Blend of Perfumers Alcohol, Witch Hazel, Glycerin, Aloe Vera, Allanatonin and Vitamin E. I fragranced them with the same essential oils as the Hybrid Shaving Soaps. When I get my assessment approved I'll send out some samples to my Shaving Room friends.
Hi Brian. How long do you think until your splashes will be available? Is the assessment a long winded process?

Forgot to say, used them Baili Butterfly razor yesterday. For the price it seems quite well made, certainly not aggressive (quite a narrow blade gap). Tended to struggle to deal with 3day growth on first pass, but tidied things up on second pass and gave a decent smooth shave. All in all, it's good value for money and would be an easy razor for someone new to DE shaving.

Looking forward to them. One of those lotions is going to be my May shaving purchase.

I'm binning off my 2020 purchase sabbatical. Online shopping is my route to sanity whilst in lockdown!

Likewise.

I've not bought much for a while, I think my last 'proper' shaving purchases were from YourShaving in October.

I'm losing whatever sanity I had (not much) with each additional lockdown and I think you're onto a winner, a bit of online shopping might restore a little sanity!

Forgot to mention - the 3000S is now on its way to you.

I had another shave with the Ming Shi 2000S, and this time I mainly faced trouble while shaving my butt-chin. This is the area where the head of the safety razor actually turns out to be to bulky or to big, I'm not sure which English word would be best

So when having no alignment issues, the safety razor performs quite good at straight skin areas. But unless you are cheating and not shaving your chin-area, than actually I would rate it as an not so practical safety razor. To be honest: I prefer my 10RMB Chinese Gillette Tech, which I bought when I was still traveling twice a year to Guangzhou in mainland China.

My wife comes from Hong Kong, but sadly the Chinese Gillette Tech isn't sold there. Oh btw Mennen Skin Bracer is also an very good aftershave lotion I had it stocked for more than 4 years, and finally decided to start using it.

Today's SOTD: 29/03/20

Razor: Ming Shi 2000S
Blade: Gillette Winner (2)
Brush: Yaqi Chianti
Soap: Extro Freddo
Pre: Proraso Green
ASL: Floïd Suave
ASB: Floïd

Freddo means cold in Italian. It's also the name of a cheap frog shaped chocolate in the UK which is often used by prestigious universities as the benchmark product for understanding the impact of inflation. You've learnt two things reading this SOTD - Italian and Macroeconomics.

The Freddo croap is scentless meaning there's a bit of a cooking oil smell when on your face. That said, it has a very nice cooling effect that takes a while to arrive but is most noticeable when it does. Usual great slickness from an Extro product. I'm liking the Chianti brush as well.

The Ming Shi pairs well with the Gillette Winner and I'm enjoying this combination. It's a very good cheap razor - even of it is a rip-off of a Futur.
Had an excellent shave with the Freddo today. Shave review is here:

Razor: Yintal Adjustable
Blade: Gillette Winner (1)
Brush: Simpsons CH2 Synthetic
Soap: Wickham 1912 Irish Fern
Pre: Proraso Cypress and Vetiver
ASL: Superdrug Forest Fresh
ASB: LEA

Well, that was a rubbish shave. I threw the towel in after the first pass. This thing shaves like the Parthenon. Lots of blade feel even on the lowest settings. Nothing like the Weishi. This won't be staying in the den.

Bought a bronze Yintal 3 piece which I used for the first time today. It's a weighty beast and gave me a very good shave. It really surprised me. Believe it uses the Maggard V3a head. Got the Yaqi slant also and it's an aggressive beast but gives a damn fine shave.

The Yaqi Slant is up next Drew. I know the bronze Yintal 3 piece you're on about and it's a good razor. I think mine is now owned by Iain following the purchase of one of my shaving bundles.

Soap: Wickham 1912 Club Cola

This head is definitely aggressive with a similar audible sound to a GEM 1912. A DFS+ finish from two passes though so I can't complain about its efficiency. I wouldn't describe this head as smooth though. Awesome lather from the T3 and Club Cola combination.

2.5 days growth taken down with total ease. This shave was much smoother than the last one and I have a super smooth face. The only down side was a little nick on my chin on the third to last stroke when I stopped paying attention and started talking to myself in the mirror - don't judge me, you've all done it. A reminder that this head needs to be respected. I'm looking forward to the next shave with this.
