Gillette "Extra Large" boar bristle brush... Still a bit damp from my shave earlier.

Made in England by Rooney (6 point shield on reverse) circa 1960s sometime I guess? Found it NOS complete with original box, required no break in, that's correct it was absolutely superb even on it's maiden voyage... Best boar brush I've ever used, knot measures 26x52mm. Three uses now and it's beginning to bloom a little.

Feels slightly weird to think the hairs touching my face are from an animal that's been dead for 50-60 years but it's pretty cool.

Had no idea what to expect other than "probably old rubbish" but been very pleasantly surprised - Handle is heavy and solid, don't know why but I expected it to be hollow and the knot which i'd anticipated ripping out is a delight. The bristles are similar to those found in a Semogue brushes but appear to have been given some form of treatment as they're really soft and break in the moment they first touch water.

Will be keeping an eye out for more of these (y)

My thoughts also on the handle being hollow.

Many old brushes are fantastic. The only reason I buy a new brush is if I get a vintage one that has a crapped out knot.
