Williams Mug Shaving soap.

As mentioned elsewhere I have a habit of starting a Williams thread. I am guessing that not a lot of people across the pond there have used it. Williams is a love it or hate it thing more then most any other soap. I love both modern and vintage cakes. Almost any given Wednesday I will be posting a Williams Wednesday shave.

So what are the thoughts around here?

Hi Fuzzy,
I brought some Williams ,was quite inexpense despite being shipped from USA.I do use on most Wednesdays.Get the water content on your brush right and it's a great soap to Shave with.

I have a cake of it somewhere in the drawer of shame somewhere. I've only ever done a test lather with it. I should probably try and use the 70-80 soaps in the bathroom at least once before I raid the drawer of shame though......
I assume you did not get on with it then. That is a shame.

Never tried it, however I've just ordered a puck from Amazon, I will report back in due corse :) P.
You won't get all of the post shave feel that the artisan soaps shout about. I use a moisturiser for that. For me it lathers easily ......is cheap and cheerful and part of shaving tradition. probably the only old school soap I know of which brings a world wide user base together for 1 day of the week....in this case Williams Wednesday

You've forgotten Tabac Tuesday!

TBH for that price I would be bowled over if it did give me everything some of the artisan soaps do however I feel that it may be one of those soaps that I should try before I die and now is a good enough time to be doing so seeing as it has been bought to my attention . :) P. Williams Wednesday eh! :)

I'm just one shave into my puck , seems okay , not sure it will replace my Tabac , MWF or Vitos though . Scent for me is a little borderline.
It will probably not replace them. It is a solid soap though. I love the scent.

I actually remember it being reasonably good but it just didn't survive the cut to stay in the bathroom. The drawer of shame is so named because of the shame of having even more soaps in storage rather than those soaps having shameful performance.
That makes me feel better. I understand how it goes.

Vintage Williams is light years ahead of the modern Williams. The manufacturer is totally stupid IMO. If they started using the vintage formula they would have to build a new bigger plant.
I agree with you. It would sell for a lot more too.
