RazoRock ECO razor

What's the point of this razor? I also don't understand the 'eco' marketing pitch.
Having just bought the Hawk V 2 seeing this did raise an eyebrow. I guess if DE blades are cheaper? That would be a plus, also this will be less wide so some might find it easier perhaps. But the universality of the DE blade will be the main SP of this over a Hawk I imagine.

I love my Hawk though, despite the fact it is still giving me some burn and a few weepers right now! I'm putting this down to the transition from a straight to an SE.

Single edge designs usually give more rigidity to a blade giving a better shave. In addition there is less waste. With my Focus R48 I usually change after 3 shaves which makes 6 shaves to a blade. When used in DE Mode I usually bin after 3 to 4....so more economical with less waste. I think the sales blurb is also aimed at cartridge users with an environmental conscience as lack of plastic is driven home.

Blade rigidity comes from the SE blades themselves (GEM or AC style) which are significantly thicker. These are still foil thin DE blades in the Eco razor. Get a Fatip OC and shave with just one side, done. Rigidly held DE blade.

If it ever hits the UK.....I will be ordering!
The design intrigues me, especially the pins that hold the blade.

I'll probably order.

I think in this case we should agree to differ as I have a selection of both Fatip OCs and half DE Blade Razors. It may be a case of YMMV!

Another one here who doesn't understand this 'half a DE blade' thing.

I love my SE's and it is the blade which makes them different and so efficient. I guess snapping a DE blade just doesn't ring my bell. It isn't really an SE just 50% of a DE.

I think one of the appeals of such a razor is that it is a SE razor where the user is able to take advantage of multitude of different blade choices and the relative lower costs of such blades.

Whether it will shave like a true SE or just 'half a DE' is something we'll only know when the razor's in our hands.

I'm kind of tempted by the RR Eco though, partly down to being intrigued by the first 'half DE' razor I came across which was the Rocnel one which I kind of regret not buying but it did look incredibly fiddly to load and it looks like RR have addressed that particular failing of the Rocnel counterpart.
