Now that I have your attention, are you ready and braced?

What is this new Gillette DE blade?

Is it a reissue of the Spoiler or the Swede?

No.

It's none of those.

It's even better.

Are you ready? (need to ask again)

It is the Gillette WINNER.

And who is the random guy looking delighted with his thumb up toasting your impending BBS/DFS? It would be the ex cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.

I myself could care one bit if I opened the blade package and it had a Derby Extra as it would still be my favourite blade of all time as with a graphic as delightful as this not much more is needed.

A few more pictures

One of the back, shows it made in May so a new release and what kind of price it is. It's around the same as the Indian GWS, so I expect it might be similar in quality.

I honestly think "saloon" is an Indian corruption of the word salon. I thought "saloon" packs were 200 blades? Oh well. Do you have these yet, Donnie? if so, how do they shave? Inquiring minds want to know.

'Indian English' is a bit of a different language to regular 'English', some words and phrases for the outsider can be a little confusing.

My blades are yet to arrive in the UK, I imagine they'll take a while longer.

Well, have you used one yet?
My short and brief answer is no. ..At the moment i'm revisiting DE blades i've neglected & haven't giving much attention to for ages..I assume the winner blade won't be far behind Indian Gillette-Wilkinson saloon pack,'hopefully' the only difference is the Platinum coating. I've also tired the 365 gillette, which i found to my liking, very sharp.DE blade are very subjective..YMMV as they say.

I am curious as to how this blade measures up to the Gillette Wilkinson Sword blade as made in China which is better IMO than the same version made in India.

I have a suspicion it won't be as good a blade as the MIC GWS. Going on list prices, the Winner will be about the same price as the GWS MII which is is around 20 INR for the pack of 10/11 blades, whilst the MIC GWS is 15 INR for 5 blades. The MIC GWS is a consumer blade, with blades intended to used more than once, whilst the GWS India/Winner I think might be largely intended for barbers, so single use blades.

Postie delivered the blades today. Impressed with the speed of delivery, around 7 days from India (ebay seller auctionz_limited)

110 pack. As a means to package 100/110 blades, it's my favourite way I've come across as it very efficient, and will take a lot less space to store than other 100 packs.. The two boxes as delivered are around 5cm high, 6.5cm length, 6cm wide, and were wrapped in a layer or two of bubble wrap.

The blade itself is double wrapped, and comes with 4 medium sized glue spots. WP_20190730_002.jpg

Difficult to describe, but the colour of the alloy of the blade looks a little different to the other Indian Gillette DE blades I have used (GWS, 7 Black),

I'll try one tomorrow to find out how it performs.

Ok ok ok!

When I looked at the blade I thought it's colour was a little different to the Indian GWS but that have been an incorrect observation as in the shave the Gillette Winner blade felt very similar to the Indian GWS, maybe they could even be the exact same blade.

I tested the blade in a Ball End Tech, my standard razor for testing new blades and quite like the Indian GWS it was quite a middle of the road blade for sharpness, reasonably smooth - a little resistance at times but nothing of discomfort, but the blade is very forgiving, I pressed a little hard a few times but didn't cut or nick myself.

To repeat myself I have a suspicion it could be the same blade as the Indian GWS, and it could replace it to make the Indian domestic market a little less confusing as prior there are 2 different GWS blades, one intended for a consumer market (the MIC one), and the other for the professional market (barbers).
