Hands up all those who shave exclusively with a straight razor

I get about 6 months or so before blades need a full hone... can go longer now I've added a nani 12k but I usually go back to that with a blade every 10 shaves or so.

I know stropping with paste can prolong the life of a blade, which I also use, but I'm not always thrilled with the results

I've never really got on with paste either. So many opinions on post hone stropping as well. Some even say not to bother if you've honed well enough. I guess it makes sense if you're that efficient in honing but I find I do have to strop but it's how many strokes on fabric then leather that gets confusing. If fabric at all??
Its a journey, that's for sure.

After Ive shaved I will give the blade 25 laps on the fabric followed by 75 laps on the leather, the fabric ensures the cutting edge is perfectly dry after shaving. P.

I use a straight only and have for about 8yrs. I can't believe what I'm hearing about stropping only for 10yrs though... surely not? The longest my edges last are about 5 weeks and that's pushing it.

Hey, ive looked after my blades, i have 7 , some are better than others but my joseph rogers and my gates still shave well.
At some stage somebody will get them on a stone .
