I seem to have a slight bumpy feeling on my naniwa stones, they also seem to develop some dark spots!?
Is this normal?

I've lapped all of the stones with 320 wet/dry on a sheet of glass.

You Dont Say what Range of Naniwa Stones they are...Naniwa Super Stones Can Feel a Bit Funny at 1st as there is a Lot of Cushion in Em..I DO NOT Soak them when I Use Em...But I Do Immerse Em in Water for a Just a Few Minutes as I Feel it MAYBE Settles them Down as they Expand & Contract During the Drying & Wetting Process I Reckon Just a Tad...

Not Sure about the Dark Spots But Super Stones Can have Dark Specks Due to Whatever Production Methods they have Used for Cutting Media..:)

You Will Get Used to them if they are Super Stones...They are Some of the Finest Stones Out there..The Naniwa Pro Stones are Much Harder Stones & Feel Different in My Experience...Harder Wearing & as Good as the Super Stones...I Know Nothing about the Cheap Range of Naniwa Stones that are Currently Available...:p

Folks that are Used to Naturals Sometimes Find the Transition to Synthetics a Bit Weird...Or Different..Other then that I Am Sure You Will get Used to the FEEL of them...(y)

Thanks for the info Billy,
All specialty stones (new name for super stones I believe?)I bought from invisible edge. My first set of stones so had nothing to compare them to. I wasn't sure if maybe the wet/dry was doing something to them.

I was thinking about getting a dmt for cleaning/lapping as I'm getting fed up with messing around with the wet/dry. Could you recommend something/somewhere not too expensive ideally.

I've spent far too much on razors lately  keep looking on eBay for cheapo and end up seeing nice ones that I like

A DMT 325 is what a Lot of Folks Use...There is an Atoma 600 diamond plate Just Came Up on TSR Buy n Sell Section...It Might Do..Some Use an Atoma 400 Diamond plate for Lapping Super Stones...Ask the Seller... (y)

I Use 350 Grit Wet n Dry Personally & Dont have Any Probs or Issues...It Obviously Gets a Bit Finer with Wear...

I just use silicon cardide (sic) , it is the same stuff thats on wet n dry paper, the big advantage is that there is no paper to break up and mash down. A half teaspoon or less on your flat surface...glass or marble tile etc ...add the water first, just soak the glass then sprinkle the sic onto it...mix it a wee bit wirh your finger and you are good to go, get it from ebayvin 100gr bags (or bigger) and in just about any grit, I got 320 and 1200, they two do fine for me. After some grinding away you will feel the difference as the grit breaks down into smaller parts, you can continue, but it will take longer...or add a bit more fresh sic and clean water...or add more sic to the existing slurry...it gets a very creamy slurry and you may want to add small amounts of water to make it thinner and easier to move around...it is only a coupke of quid on ebay, and there are loads of utube videos on it too.

thanks for the info bob, I'll probably go for a dmt though. Sounds like earache from the mrs doing that in the kitchen, she's still fuming about the picture frame I dismantled for lapping glass :D
