Ariana & Evans Comes to UK!!

I snagged the Tertius. It has a Pungent scent of leather and Oud. It Kinda reminds me of Razorock's The Stallion. Great performance, although my skin tingled a bit. But I wish these American artisans would curb their enthusiasm. They overcomplicate their scents. I long for the simple beauty of LPL or Czech & Speake's Oxford & Cambridge.

It sounds like there's too much scent which would irritate my skin. I think some makers try to out do themselves with odd and sttong scents!

I agree. PAA's Malbolge is a prime example. Weird, silly scent. I went on an LPL binge recently and adore the Fougere. Plus, unlike a lot of American soaps, it does not leave my skin feeling greasy. Supple, yes, greasy, no.

I've just bought a few of them & I think the performance & scent on all of them is first class. Fortunately my skin doesn't react to strong scents but I know it can be a problem for some people.
Is my shave better for using them? Of course not. Are they superior in performance to say Tabac? No. My Speick stick @ £1.50 gives me as good a shave. Are they worth buying? Probably not but hey, we all know the story here- temptation lurks around every corner:D

Where do you get a Speick stick at £1.50?

I wonder if they are EU approved now? A bit naughty if they aren't when our other UK vendors like Connaught, shaving station and Shave lounge have to follow the rules.

Not sure, but the service is superb. Fast shipping, no hassle. However, I'm unconvinced by the either the scents (fig, teritus) or the performance. My Abbate Mantia, Czech & Speake, SV and LPL are just as good. So, after just a few shaves, I've decided to offload the two A&E's already. 99p on eBay methinks.

After being in this hobby nearly 10 years you get used to seeing the latest soap get hyped and then forgotten within 6 months. Sometimes you can't beat the classics and (that's) why they have been around for years.

As regards the best artisan shaving soaps we have indeed reached the point of diminishing return IMO for the most part. Many of the best artisan soaps shave great as does even the ol' Palmolive stick. The difference is in the scents and the post shave feel for those that value those assets. No new soap is going to cure baldness, erectile dysfunction or erase liver spots. Just like we don't all drive the same cars or eat the same food daily, many like some variety. It also helps the economy to spread a little "gravy" around.
