I don't know your age, but if you're over 50 you have less collagen in your skin. The collagen keeps your skin taunt. If you've ever driven in deep water (and who in England hasn't?), you'll know about the bow wave produced by the car going forward. The same is with your old, slack, wrinkly skin. The razor pushes the skin into a little mound and it's easy to catch this in the razor. Make faces in the mirror to keep your skin as tight as you can.

Steve,

Thanks for the good advice. Yes, I am over 50 - when my son wants to goad me he'll say, "Dad, tell me about what it was like when you were young. You know, when wheels were square." LoL!

FWIW, I am going to attach a couple of pictures I took of my DE89 (left) and the 3ONE6 (right) heads so a person can compare the blade gaps and other differences that might be important to them. Astra SP blades used from the same tuck.

Thanks Ike, here's a GIF with the heads overlaid for (hopefully) easier comparison.

Very useful @Rohleder just that bit more blade sticking out on the 3one6. If you have said Merkur head, would you mind awfully doing the same, please? I could manage to get to the toilet for the necessities at present but post-surgery, I'm way too shattered for eyeing things up like that. Many thanks, kind sir. (y)

I don't have any Merkurs old chap but will have a gander on Google image search and see if I can find anything suitable.

To be honest I think geometry is almost identical to the DE89, just with increased blade exposure, the baseplate is hollowed out like a Merkur to save material I would guess.

I concur, old chap. Don't worry about anymore video jiggery pokery as you've already been most helpful.

Just a really rough one as there wasn't anything suitable found on the image search...

They do appear superficially similar but when compared I think the 3ONE6 has more in common (geometry wise) with the DE89... That said, they're all fairly similar!

Rohleder,

Thanks for working your magic on the images. Here is an image of a Merkur 38c (left) and the 3ONE6 (right).
