Hi
I've been using a DE razor for some time now and fancy dipping my toes into different waters.
Can anyone recommend a "Cheap" but worthy starter Shavette straight Razor.
I don't think I'm ready for stropping yet!

Any advice is welcome.

Look on Ali Express at the Feather AC clones. They are less than £10

Defo don't go cheap...they will put you off shaving for life... I started with a cheap £5 one and it was horrendous, then got a Parker SRX which is excellent, next up was a Dovo, also excellent and extremely light...my best and last before I started with Straights was the Feather AC DX, really top notch shavette but at over £120 it will not be on your list....I have not tried the cloned shavettes but if they are half as good as the originals then they will be good, me personally would go for a original, it is the real deal and has a resale value where if and when the clones start falling apart they will be scrap..a Dovo is under £30 and a Parker srx is about the same.

I bought a cheap one from eBay, it's not bad but I just don't like it that much. It got a bit floppy until I gave the pin a whack with a centre punch.

Then I bought another cheap one from eBay, but this is one of those that has two holes for fingers, looking a bit like a knuckle duster. I really like it. The captive nut came loose, but a bit of Epoxy sorted that. It's my daily third pass.

If you want to use DE Blades I would recommend the Focus Slim Al. It has a really clever design which ensures there are no sharp corners exposed to do damage and the edge is held firmly in place. Its manufactured to very high tolerances. A little more expensive at £48 but worth it. Connaught is the only UK source.

Check out the Ali Express link mentioned above.

I have one and they are amazing value and very well built.
I have attached some pics of it compared to a couple Kai's I have.

(The clone is the gold one in the middle)

I have never ever tried a feather razor at all and wanted to try out the clone to see if it (feather) was one i would want to buy......
