Yaqi Synthetic Brushes

These fellows seem reasonably priced; especially from aliexpress. For those of you that have used them, are they recommended? Pros?, cons?

Thanks, S.

I have bought A LOT of Yaqi Brushes. Maybe 5 or 6? I have measurements of the all brushes including glue bumps in a spreadsheet.

What info are you after in particular?

Yes, I would recommend them. I have a few synthetic brushes and found that they are well made, bristles are soft yet can whip up a nice lather.

The only con I can really think of is waiting for them to arrive from China.

Thanks, Donnie. I use RazoRocks at the minute; and thought I'd treat myself to one for rotation. I'm a face latherer and look for that nice combination of backbone and softness. Importantly, the workmanship and quality is important too.

Indeed. I see some on the bay, Amazon etc. but they can be a bit more ext.

I can't fault the brushes quality and post purchase customer care is great as well.

I always face lather as well and of the brushes I have bought from them two get more usage than any others. The first is this one, the run of the mill 24mm Plissoft. The glue bump is a bit on the higher side of thing, I think about 10mm or so but it's just enough to allow the brush to be good at picking up harder soaps, I use that brushes for croaps like Cella, Vitos, Proraso and so on.
The other Yaqi brush I have is a 26mm Fan Tuxedo, and it has a very low glue bump and it can be used to load harder soaps/croaps but I find it a bit on the floppy side of things - I think the brush works better for creams and face lathering shaving sticks. Even though it is the biggest brush I own, it seems to be the most efficient brush I own seeming to create the most lather from the least amount of soap. In terms of face feel, I find the fan shape of the knot to be a delight to use.

One thing to keep in mind for Yaqi brushes, is their brushes knot width at the base is pretty much always 2mm wider than they advertise and the lofts seem to be a bit lower than their advertised figures as well.

Many thanks again, Donnie.

Have you bought a 30mm yaqi?

Nope. There's no chance I ever will! In Yaqi sizing, I expect that would be 32mm or so, which will be MASSIVE, the 26mm knot brushes I have of theirs are more than large enough for face lathering for me.

I think their 30mm so brushes are aimed at head shavers, and that's something I'm into, I quite like having hair on my head. Not that there's anything wrong for shaving your head though!

I am looking on Amazon.co.uk (as need it quicker than Aliexpress) are all the 26mm the same?
I see rainbow, Timerwolf, evil zebra, mysterious , brown and ferrari

Fantastic in every way.

I've had mine for a year now and it is as good as the day i got it. Beats the pants of any natural brush i have ever used.

No, they are not all the same. There are differences in the fibre, but the difference in fibre isn't as significant as other factors which include glue bump, density and loft height.

I have 2 Yaqi 26mm brushes. The rainbow one, and the Mysterious Space Fan Tuxedo. The latter has a lower glue bump and is a bit floppier, whilst the rainbow has a higher glue bump and has more backbone. Both have an actual measurement of around 28mm for the knot. Both are excellent brushes, but have slight differences.
