Bart's Balm

I was sent two Bart's Balm samples free of charge, not for the purpose of a review but to entice me to part with my hard earned cash! I haven't done a review before so thought why not!

I was sent Lime Oil and Lavender Oil.

The Lime Oil has a really nice fresh smell that I liked a lot. The Lavender is fine. I didn't dislike it. The scent doesn't stay long which is how I like it.

Both just feel really good quality. They are non greasy and the skin absorbs them fast. I can't say whether they soothe any better than any other balm that I have used because I used them after really good shaves with minimal irritation and redness. What I can say is that my skin felt really good and well moisturized after using them and this feeling lasted all day. I wish I had a couple of other samples and maybe an aftershave lotion sample but that's me just being greedy.
Having checked the website, the Bart products are well priced and I think the sample boxes are a great idea.

Will I part with my money...Yes I will :)

I had the samples too, I found them to be a excellent product, I think Barts will be my go to balm when my new one is finished...really pleased with the balm and it is a quality product... Get a sample or just buy it...you won't be disappointed.

Bob.

Thanks Bob

Glad you enjoyed them.

I also received a couple of samples, one the lime oil and the other sandalwood and rosemary. They feel a little waxy when I apply them (very little is needed), but this feeling passes quickly and leaves my face feeling very soothed, fresh and supple, and this sensation lasts for several hours. I thought I would prefer the lime oil scent, but in fact the sandalwood and rosemary wins the day by a country mile. I often find sandalwood scents to be too rich and rather overwhelming, but the Barts Balm version is really very nice.

I've just bought the Balm set in a tin.

Really liked the ones I've used. 2 down 5 to go.

I found them moisturising and gentle enough for my sensitive skin.

The smells are really nice, and the balm doesn't leave me feeling that my face is suffocated.

The only downside is that I'm going to eventually have to buy the full sized balms.

Thank you and of course you are more than welcome to buy some full size bottles :)

Just hijacking this thread as I didn't want to make another one if there was already a thread on Bart's.

I was also sent some free samples from Bart's balm, which I am very grateful for - Ben More & Ben Cruachan balm and Ben Alder Lotion.

Performance
I have never tried a post shave "lotion" so I have nothing to compare the performance to, but I am very impressed - slightly greasy, but that lasted maybe 30 minutes then afterwards my face felt smooth and soft all day.
The balms were also very pleasant felt nice on the skin and again, left my face feeling good for the rest of the day.

Fragrances
Ben Alder lotion (lavender) - Paired with DR Harris Windor, this is a lovely smell that would be perfect for spring/summer and evening shaves. Very relaxing scent that isn't too strong, lasted a couple of hours on my face which was very welcome.
Ben Cruachan balm (lime) - Paired with Edwin Jagger Limes & pomegranate. The scent reminds me of the base yellow flavour of the Fruit Pastilles ice lollies and, again very nice. It's a stronger scent and lasted maybe an hour, something I really enjoyed. A perfect spring / summer scent in my opinion.
Ben More balm (bergamot and vanilla) - Paired with Stirling Tuscany. A 'heavier' and creamy scent, very simple but pleasant. More of a winter smell for me, mostly vanilla with the bergamot tones, works well together and again lasted maybe an hour.

In conclusion, I'm very happy with the performance of both the balm and the lotions. I'll be very happy to buy full bottles of the Lavender lotion and the Lime balm, top-notch quality and really nice smells. The Bergamot and Vanilla is very nice, but it wouldn't be my first choice (personal preference, and also I don't have soaps that match). I'm also interested in trying some more flavours, and seeing what's available.

This is my first attempt at a review, so hopefully people find it useful!

I too would recommend Bart's Balms. I got the Amber and Moroccan Jasmin as part of a shaving package and really liked both the fragrance and the way it left my skin feeling. I recently fin9shed the bottle so ordered another and a tin of samples. The labelling has changed, but the performance is just as good. From the sample tin, I too liked the lime, peppermint and the grapefruit. Well worth the money, I think.
