The last time I bought was was over 8 years ago, so things have moved on! Have about a £50 budget and on scouring Ebay there are loads for sale within that. Basic needs are a scart connection, uncomplicated remote control, doesn't even need to be HD! Anyone got a specific model they can suggest me looking out for?

I'm now in a position to answer my own question! I bought a Humax T2100 YouView player - an amazing bit of kit for any price! 500Gb hard drive, connects to internet so you get a wide range of 'catch up' options. Intuitive remote control and very easy to use. Highly recommended!

Been a while, and I', shamelessly resurrecting this post - how did this Youview box work out for you? Due to Virgin banging their prices up; I'm going to get PVR. This particular BT Youview box still gets very good ratings.

The box is still going strong and my partner loves it! Totally reliable, dead easy to use, and great catch up facility - very highly recommended!
