~SOTD~

Prep ~ D.R. Harris Almond Oil Soap, Shower
Razor ~ Gem MMOC with Stropping blade conversion
Ever-Ready Radio Steel Stropping Blade
Soap ~ Noble Otter ~ The Trail
Brush ~ Brad Sears - Gonzo Silvertip
Post ~ Thayers
Scent ~ Nishane - Afrika Olifant Extract de Parfum

I was getting all the scents from this soap this time, very nice indeed, you could be walking the Trail.
It was soon whipped up into a wonderful lather with me adding small amounts of water to get to that sheen point where I knew it would be perfect, applied with my super soft Gonzo wes a pleasure in its self
The Gem MMOC fitted out with a Stropping blade did a fantastic job at whisker wacking and soon had me as smooth as an otters smooth bits.
Being cooler today I thought I could get away with a spray or two of Afrika Olifant, a very anamallistic scent indeed.

Wishing you all a fab Friday .....P.

I really have to comment on the Zenith brush. With it's first run (without breaking in period), it became my favourite brush! Outrun my beloved Omega pros, Semogue SOC badger, Stirling badger and a bunch of synthetics :)
Just a great face feel (that - for me - only boar can provide :) ), dense, but with good flowthrough, ideal knot (28x57mm) for facelather.

Hi, if you have tried other sv soaps how does Cosmo compare? Many thanks

Morning shave

Olive Oil Soap
P&B Trafalgar
Shavemac 2 Band Silvertip
Ever-Ready Streamline
Gem Blue Star (1)
Thayers Witch Hazel (unscented)
Heeley Sel Marin EDP

I spent longer than usual this morning ensuring that my lather was as good as it could be for my first use of the Streamline. This razor has the reputation of being extremely ‘efficient'. And extremely efficient it was. Aided by plenty of cushion and slickness from the P&B, I had two very careful but trouble free passes with this iconic razor. Needless to say, I'm BB smooth. I enjoyed that!
Many thanks to @Rohleder for the Streamline. You're a gentleman James.
Have a good day chaps.

Fri 10th Aug.
Stirling Syn. 26mm
Stirling Baker Street
ER Natural Angle/ Gem S/S- shave aborted
Merkur Futur-2.5
Personna Lab Blue [ 1 ]
Tuff Green A/S Lotion

After a somewhat disappointing Shave with an ER 1924 yesterday, I decided to try the blade out again but this time in an ER Natural Angle. After a few strokes was obviously not working and the blade was a dud so I stopped further use with it.

As an alternative I decided on a DE Shave , which I have rarely use since I got involved with Vintage SE/Injectors and more latterly AC/SE Razors. I personally find DE Razors a lot less forgiving of user error than the other types , and also get Shaves as good if not better with other types too. However, by using a low setting and not rushing I was very pleased with the finished Shave, which was fault free and nice and close all round. I did feel the need for an application of Alum to soothe the skin.

I will make sure I keep my hand in with my DE Razors, but will not be tempted by any of the good looking S/S models currently in favour, will confine myself to putting likes on SOTD reports showing them. :)

It's always good to keep your hand in even if it's only once a week a little variety is good :) P.

Hi Paul.
You are much better at rotation discipline than me, you constantly are ringing the changes.I really seem to have
lost my liking for DE Shaves, but will try a bit harder. Funnily enough I quite fancy the Black Rocca so I can use the black handle with the Alu. General head.
A weekend off for a change, but some Athletics to watch on TV. Hope your weekend is good.
Mike

Friday

Phoenix and Beau Baskerville
RazoRock Plissoft 24mm synth
Face lather
Feather Artist Club SS Kamisori
Feather Professional
Alum
BBA balm

2 passes and some buffing for a perfectly smooth finish. Completed by the tremendous (but getting dangerously low) BBA balm. It's good to use the @phoenixandbeau Baskerville again; like Whitechapel, Star Noir and (of course) Spitfire, it really is a top notch performer.

Friday 10th August

Pears Glycerine Soap
Proraso Green Tea and Oat Preshave
Stirling Glastonbury Shaving Soap
Simpson Special in Best Badger
Focus R48 SE with a Bic Platinum Chrome Blade
Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Aloe Vera Gel
Pashana Original AS

Its raining with me at the moment, and the garden is full of earthy smells....so I decided to go with a Glastonbury day today followed by some Pashana which I think compliment each other rather well. I liked it so much....I think I will splash on more before work this evening!
I resurrected the Focus a short time back and enjoyed the shaves so much that I decided to give it another go. Perhaps it was the break I had taken and then retrying.......but this really is proving itself to be a very good little razor. I was DFS+ at the end of the first pass but carried on and was rewarded with a BBS finish after three:)
