Any blades you won't buy again?

For me the Chinese made Gillette Super Blue blades are absolute junk, felt like my beard was being tweezed. Absolute horrid blade I would not give to my worst enemy. I'm not a fan of Astra SP, Sharks, Bic and 7 O'Clock Yellows, Treet Carbon blades, but I don't mind giving them goes when they come up in rotation again but I am never using a Super Blue again.

The Feathers I find not too comfortable on the first shave but after that they smooth out and give a comfortable shave, at least in my experience they do.

I've read that the first shave with a Feather isn't great, the second one is pretty good and they're pretty much done after that. So you're getting ONE good shave out of one and paying good money for it?

I got three shaves total, I only use a blade thrice in any case. I got a good shave with it for the first use but not as smooth as other blades out of the wrapper. You could try palm stropping the blade before you use it, i believe others run the edge over a cork to break it in kind of thing.

At the moment it is Personna Platinum, Rapira Stainless Chrome, Gillette Silver Blue.

All three have been bad for me.

I am not too sure when when people say Feathers will cut you up. I have used them on my first attempt and they were great. No more likely to cut me than most other blades I have tried.

I've got a suspicion the Gillette Super Blue is the same blade as the Tian Li Super Blue and the Baili Super Blue, as the latter shaves like the one BladeMonkey & Nolisco describe.

The Tian Li Super Stainless seems to be the same as the Tian Li Super Blue.

Truly horrific razor blades. A shave with one of them will remind one how superb other razor blades are.

3 months into DE shaving and feel brave enough to try a Feather in the morning for the first time. Wish me luck!

Not really a fan of Feathers. Perhaps not quite as brutal as I'd expected, and I was very careful but got a few nicks (not been getting any with Polsilvers), the shave felt rough despite good prep & lather, and my face was very red afterwards. Slightly closer shave but not worth it for me. Won't be buying any.

Stay with the Polsilvers. They'll never let you down.

No, these two are not the same. The problem is the difficulty in getting BONAFIDE Super Gillette Blue Blades from China as the Internet is rife with counterfeit copies of these as well as other Gillette Chinese blades. I have some Tian Li Super Blue and they are absolutely wretched. Like shaving with a rusty bean can lid. BONAFIDE Super Gillette Blue Blades are at least as good as Astra SP if not a hair better IMO.

The Chinese economy is so dependent on fraudulent products that the CEO of Taobao said their economy would basically collapse if forced to stop it completely. Now there's a thought. ;)

Pleased to be corrected.

I'll amend my initial statement to my suspicion being the Gillette Super Blue that Nolisco & Blademonkey tried and the description of that particular blade seemed similar to the Tian Li SB I tried, which I believe was the same blade as the Baili Super Blue I tried as well.

With the China market being flooded with counterfeit goods, fakes of the Gillette Super Blue being sold seems a very likely occurrence.

Your experience of the Gillette Super Blue seems to lie close to another MIC blade I have used, the Rimei Platinum - which is one of my favourite blades. There seem to be a number of different MIC blades which I think all come from the same Shanghai factory and the blades they produce seem to fit into a couple of categories of either superb or awful - little in between.

I think I will not buy anymore Gillette Wilkies from India, they last too long and I have about 150, by my calculations I will be pushing daisies by the time I'll finish these.

I do get around 15 fantastic shaves from each blade with a Krona.

The DE only comes out at the weekend (Contour during the week) and competitive healthy balance of yank Personnas it will see me off.

Life's too short mate,...just buy 250 Polsilver Lodz from shaving.ie and forget the rest.
