Favourite Band

Saw Whitesnake perform a few times in the early 1980s at the old Glasgow apollo, sadly knocked down now.

I have to be honest I really liked the combination of Mickey Moody and Bernie Marsden on guitar in the late 70's and early 80's. After that John Sykes was awesome on the 1987 album IMO defining the new Whitesnake sound. Steve Vai is a great guitarist but I felt his style didn't fit. Viv Campbell and Adrian Vandenberg both great. More recently Doug Aldrich and Reb Beach another great pairing.

As live - Black Grape at Balloch Country Park. 1996? Not sure - I was paid to go and photograph it. They were second or third on the bill under the headliners Oasis. Oasis were good but not as good as Shaun and the boys. When not working, best gig live Manu Chao at the Glasgow Academy. Best band in general - the Beta Band. I'll never forget seeing AC/DC live or indeed the Grateful Dead. I'm showing my age I think. I.

Favourite band - tough question, changes for me depending on my mood - at the moment (pished after Dundee 0 - Aberdeen 7) - I'm an Aberdeen fan and quite happy!

1. The Ramones
2. Queen
3. Madness

I saw Black Grape support The Stone Roses, Sheffield 1995....half way through a song they stopped playing because it was "bifter time" - madnes when they returned to the stage 5 mins later!

Oh & the Beta Band were great. Really enjoying Steve Mason's solo stuff!

depeche mode, smiths, james, neutral milk hotel, simple minds have been the main bands i listen to - also a big fan of electronic and ambient music - jean michel jarre, kraftwerk, art of noise, tangerine dream were the basis of that. now i listen to a lot of soundcloud artists. the standard of music out there is phenomonal

I was at the same gig. It started snowing when we left the gig and I stopped at a friend of a friend's place....with no heating. One of the coldest nights of my life. It was worth it though.:D

Funny how I can remember that far back but I struggle to remember what I did 5 minutes ago.:p:)

I'd forgotten about the weather. I drove back up to West Yorkshire in blizzard conditions on the M1.. As you say, well worth it!

The other 'bit' of the Beta Band - when they split - went on to be The Aliens. If you are not familiar check them out. The first two albums are superb. Steve Mason has done some great solo work but unfortunately I think they were better together. As I type this there is a poster on the wall next to me for the Beta Band gig at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh on the 24th of August 2004. The day they split up! The gig never happened. Damn. That close. I.

Another 80's / 90's indie kid here! Inspirals are my favourite band (the ones I'd follow around and always see), but not actually the best.

James have been a constant, and I always come back to The Smiths. Either of them would qualify as the band I've listened to most over the years.

Current favourites are Everything Everything, who are currently releasing teasers of new material. Can't wait!

I have such eclectic taste in music from AC/DC (seen them twice), to the Stones (watched them at Brixton) to Allison Kraus & Union Station and Slaid Cleaves (Seen him a few times). The the majority of the time though I listen to classical music and given the opportunity I would go to a classical concert over anything else
