Youtube shavers.......

Watch the Aussie bloke, can't remember his name, but he's mad as a hatter. He did a review on the Roncel SE (half DE) and thought the thing was out to kill him. I don't really watch many YouTube videos from shavers, but he'll certainly give an honest opinion if you can be bothered to listen to him.
It's either on here or ATG - that a comment was made that the Aussie guy is on the only person ever to get barred from the Australian forums for his opinions & how he makes them!

It Also Breeds Gullible People that Believe these Lies from the Cradle to the Grave..o_O

I think I must be one of those gullible people..... I bought a few things that I didn't need nor they are what some people said they were. :( I hope I learnt the lesson :)

I see the same people claiming the same wonderful things after every razor, brush and soap they buy so I don't pay any attention to them now lol.

But he really goes for it when shaving. If i shaved that aggressive and fast i would take chunks out of my face.

Is it really that bad/fast? I had to watch to video to see what you meant, but in reality I just saw a tempo and way of shaving that mimicks my own speed. It's all in the hand/muscle memory. After a while using the same razor it's just an extension of your hand and you'll wield it like you were born with it :) I actually have to slow down when I a seldom time a year use a cartridge. Because I almost never use one. So for speed and convenience, I have absolutely no use for a cartridge. I only mention this because I came to think of the common advice to use a cartridge if one's in a hurry.

Each to their own.....i take my time and get a good quality shave with no nicks or razor burn.
If shaving at that speed works wonders for you, then great [emoji6]

I don't know if it works wonders but quality wise I don't gain anything from going slower. No less irritation or burn.

I guess I was just surprised the tempo shown was aggressive and fast since it looked like my normal. But yeah, each to his own :)

They're harmless. I did appreciate Michael Freedbergs lathering tutorials when I was getting started but my technique has changed since then and I build a lather that suits my needs now.

I will say where a product falls down quite happily.

That said, I review what I purchase, and I purchase CAREFULLY so as to avoid buying lemons :)
i would say you was one of the most trustworthy reviewers and when you did find something that was not to be recommended you would not but these are few and far between because as you say you do purchase carefully. I have bought soaps on your recommendation and have never been disapointed . Well done and long may you continue to guide and enable us :)

Yeah, give me a razor made by Socialists anytime. Oh wait, there aren't any! You can't make razors with other people's money ... unless you go via Kickstarter et al.

I don't watch the videos so much for reviews, one reviewer who I do enjoy is Michael Freedberg seems a no nonsense kind of user. I like to watch videos to see how performance is, see whether x razor is aggressive or whether y soap is a handsoap with clay added.

I wouldn't trust them for unbiased reviews, especially once the freebies and products start coming in, it seems some have a too familiar thing with the soap makers and a bad word means they won't get the newest release to get more views.

I prefer the videos that are just the shaves none of the bull of a character and fawning to the camera. I quite enjoy KenSurfs, Suffolk Shaver, Cap7597, Steve Hardy (acquired taste) and Mad Scientist of Wet Shaving (wish he did more recently).

We can not tar all reviewers with the same brush, there are many honest ones and some not so and it is up to the watcher to decide one from the other. Not all reviewers get given goods to review some review what they purchase for themselves .
I have not seen Michael Freedburg, but I will seek him out and have a look. :)

That is true, you can't tar all with the same brush, I do think that some do err on the side of caution when it comes to artisan soaps, especially if they have been given a soap or razor to review. I would trust a review done on a product someone has purchased as opposed to one which they have been given.

Another nice one that I have seen recently is Friendship Shaving.
