The Bullgoose Asylum RX razor - are you getting one?

Just confirmed from Phil that RX was designed for Feather Pro and Kai Mild. Dorco, Kamisori, and Kai Regular would also work, but not the Feather Light, either Guard blades, or Feather Super Pro. Now supposedly this razor is supposed to be so good that you wouldn't need anything better than a Pro. For that price though, I would expect a Pro barber to come with it to shave me.

What else? Only certain shaving soaps won't clog it? It would work but only up to 3 days worth? I really try to stick to the "if you don't have anything good to say..." dogma, but this is a 300$+ razor.

Yeah, as much as I have been following this razor for a couple of years now ever since it was the Huntlee Katana, and I won't have to be dealing with shipping and customs, I am starting to see now that maybe the Claymore or the Ikon might be better choices. Even the ATT is a possibility if I get the head only option.

The tester says the Pro Super doesn't fit and Phil himself said it was designed for the Pro & Kai Mild. I have the Claymore in transit and Brian has stated it will fit the Pro Super. I have the ATT SE, had several Mongooses and several Cobra Classics and the Super Pro fits all of them. I believe the upcoming iKon SE will also accept the Pro Super.

just stated that Phil should straighten up his information (see the link). The ATT works great, and I use the Pro with it, while the Mongoose and Feather straight works best (for me) with the Pro super.

I think the difference between the RX and the others is that the others (except for the Cobra) are traditional top cap screwed on to a bottom slab and so these can accommodate a slightly thicker blade easily. The RX kind of encases the blade in a confined space which makes it a little harder to accommodate a thicker blade. Of course Phil claims that this more precise tolerance is why the price is higher. The typical pay more for better machining and get less in the process. Personally, I don't have a problem as I use exclusively the Feather Pro, however I know a lot of folks swear by the Super Pro and so that might be something that should be addressed.

Latest news on the FB page is September 30 for first batch and the first batch might come in small batches. Not sure if they are talking about something as small as the nine available in the initial Claymore release, but definitely the chatter has died down a lot.

Rocnel, and Colonial Razors stated quite plainly that after their current project is done (the AC type SE), they are definitely going the GEM route. Time will tell.

Greetings

Then my interest will be aroused, but it will need to be good, very good because unlike razors designed for the Artists Club style blades there are already probably a couple of hundred superb shaving razors already taking the GEM blade and they have all stood the test of time! I wish them luck.

Regards
Dick.
