New Injector Razor

This week I am dedicating to the B-V3 razor and this morning was the maiden shave w/ it..

I'll break my impressions into three categories;
- Loading,
- Using, and
- Result

Loading the razor
I decided to go with a vintage Schick Twin blade - both because I love this blade but also because I remember Tom mentioning that he had tried the razor with that blade so it should fit.
Now this being my first shave with the B-V3 I had to load into an empty razor. The key slot fitted perfectly but the alignment with the blade seemed to be a bit off. The blade was pushing about 1-2mm into the side of the razor - below to where it should be inserted. After fiddling around for a bit and manually guiding the blade 'upwards' a tiny bit it slid perfectly into the razor and rested securely behind the tabs.

Using
A bit of a different angle is required here (at least if you come from mostly DE razors. It reminded me a bit about SE shaving in a way as you hold the head rather flat against your face.
Having said that it took literally seconds to adjust to it.
So...the most important part maybe - how comfortable is the shave, how efficient is it - and did it mess up my face [any further]?
In short - extremely comfortable (I never felt the blade or felt the razor bark at me). No cuts what so ever (my face was intact).
I'd say medium efficient w/ this Mild base plate. I think the "Mild" label described it perfectly but can't tell for sure how it relates to the other base plates until I've tried them.

Result
I was 75% clean shaven after one WTG pass but had to do some clean-ups around the nose and mouth. I'm really curious to try out the "NotSo" and "Wild" next this week.
Extremely comfortable razor to use - the only downside was that it kept catching my eye in the mirror as it truly is that good looking! :)

So far VERY impressed but will hold off on 'final verdict' until end of the week when I have a few more shaves on all base plates under my belt.

Good Report..I found that the NOS Schick Twin Magazine was a bit out as well..I used a Gillette Trac 11 Magazine as it fitted it best for Twin Blades..This is not unusual though as I get this with a lot of injectors..Some magazines fit some models better than others..:p

It would appear to me that the Manufacturers did this to discourage folks from using rival brand injector blades..Its very hard to pin the difference's down as well..A lot of my NOS Schick Injector Magazines will only Fit Schick's...The Current Chinese Schick Magazine wont even look near a PAL Adjustable..:D

Here they are ..Not so sure about any resemblance to the PAL Adjustable but the Bunny Sure has a Commonality with the 1941 Schick Type F..:p

Well done Billy,
Knew you would turn out the photos. A clever move by Tom to use that back- plate , on looks alone will satisfy those chasing after an F type. What Tom has achieved in a short space of time is amazing , I hope his efforts are truly rewarded.

Shave Report #2 w/ B-V3

This morning was my second shave with the B-V3.
I left the same Schick Twin blade in it as I wanted to keep the number of variables down as I today switched over to the NotSo base plate.

Design
Switching the base plates was a breeze - the old one (Mild) popped out easily and the new one (NotSo) slid in wihout any issues whatsoever.
"Issue":
Switching the base plates made me realize two things though;
There was a lot of soap residue behind the old plate that needed to be cleaned out - and with the edge of the blade pointing straight at you when doing this can potentially lead you to cut yourself if you don't pay attention.

I can only see two ways to mitigate this;
a) Have the base plate designed so that it closes more tightly against the handle so to minimize the amount of soap build-up there, and/or
b) Remove the base plate after every shave and rinse it off right away (I did that after today's shave and it was much easier to get it clean that way)

I also took some more time to inspect the machining closer today and, Tom, you're one heck of a machinist.

Shave
I actually didn't feel that the shave was significantly more aggressive than the 'Mild" plate. If I had not known I don't think I would had picked up on that I was using a different plate.
Now, it still gave me a great, close, enjoyable shave on my face.

"Issue":
I thought it was just me being a bit sloppy the last shave as I ended up with a bit of stubble right under my nose and next to my mouth - but I noticed that the same happened during this shave. It was hard to get really in under my nose and find the angle there to get the last stubble. I'm sure part of that is due to learning a new razor and angle but I'd be very interested in hearing from other testers about this.

Result
Two passes - WTG and ATG. No cuts/weepers. Very clean shaven on my face but a few stubbles left under my nose.

Really looking forward to trying out the "Wild" on Friday and get a sense of how the aggressiveness is spread out across all the plates.

Great job Tom!
