NEO razor by The Shavedoctor

Am ever so tempted to be cheekt and ask if the production team have sufficient confidence in the product to give or provide on extended trial a current version for our pass around . Quick perusal of the site will demonstrate that the forum has a vast array of shavers of varying degrees of experience using all types of kit. I'm sure that the system would get a fair trial.

Nice change, that it wasn't me shouting "pass around!" first :D

Johnny, pleasure to communicate in a gentlemanly, open minded and constructive manner. It may look beastly but it is as light as any conventional cartridge based razor and needs to be of a certain size to house the foam cartridge that sits inside the razor handle giving the consumer upto 12 shaves which is great for travelling with too.
Mark when i saw 'beastly', i mean it in a good way haha! I like that it looks over the top and sets itself apart from gillette cartridges.

, i know of many traditional shavers including some friends of mine who now loath cartridge based razors because of what they perceive as a poorer quality shave, hiked price points and just a genuine hatred for what that company stands for or represents .

You've answered my own query, did you not think there was something in their views? The "company" I don't believe is an issue, rather the price and "poorer quality shave". What price is the Neo shaving system, consumables and (REALLY! )how long do the cartridges last?
Your product could just as easily have "that company" name on the side, it's still going to encounter the same opposition because you're trying to replicate "their" product line; cartridges. They try a ball, you try more blades, they try a .........the list will go on and on but it's still equating to more blades, more passes, clogs easier and more consumer spending until they too work out that one blade is still better. It doesn't matter if it's that company or your company, I severely dislike being locked in to buying the consumables from that company. It's why I don't buy Epson cartridges for my printer, the ink is still black and my page still gets printed.

A few weeks ago I tried shaving with a cartridge razor for the first time in years. With proper prep I managed to get a really good shave. The three problems with cartridge razors are cost of cartridges (although I paid £3 per blade for vintage injector blades), boredom and clogging. Keep in mind that that we more traditional shavers are a minority, if a vocal one. Many more people use cartridge razors. An all-in-one cartridge razor might be an attractive solution for traveling light with hand luggage only, although the additional shave gel oil might negate that advantage.

The members of the forums have seen this photograph before Mark but I just want to post it again to show you why I don't believe cartridge systems deliver the best shave. I too believed the hype from the many companies, before I had my DE/SE epiphany two years ago.

Between the ingredients in pressurised cans, multiple blades equating multiple passes, and clogging issues, I tried, as I mentioned previously, many cartridges systems because they all told me of the great advancements and improvements they would make. I was suckered in like everyone else. Price was never an issue, I just wanted a clean and comfortable shave. I understand they do work for the mass majority but I believe if made aware of the alternatives and results ( and price!) that would be enough to change their minds.
Two shaves in with a DE and that was gone from my life. As far as I'm concerned, there's no point in reinventing the wheel.

And I am one also as I have been for 30 years and I am very proud to be one although I do mix up my shaves between traditional and system depending how much time I have..like I have said already I have taught over 10,500 barbers since 2007 from across the world with a training team in Greece and recently launched into Russia how to use a straight/open/DE blade razor and nothing feels better than that type of shave experience especially done with the hot and cold towels and some great products. I agree that there is a very small minority that shave this way and believe me if there was a way to increase this significantly and commercially we would be on it however this will never happen and cartridge wins every time. Our objective came via disgruntled cartridge users who were and are fed up with Gillette but don't want to go down the traditional route.

Your picture is the very reason I developed the Shavedoctor wet products back in 2010, I have shaved many who have suffered with severe shaving rash and razor burn in the past not to mention those who have genuine skin complaints like eczema and psoriasis to name but a few that couldn't shave or found wet shaving especially difficult and uncomfortable. These products have a special ingredient in all of them called Leptospermum Petersonni a natural extract and blend of lemon oil and tea tree oil and once we have shaved our models or our barbers have shaved their clients the skin is left in a clear and cooling condition. We have no harsh chemicals or parabens in any of our products so there wont or should be a reaction. Of course you have detected that it was the system razors that were causing your issues so I cannot comment on those. I am glad that you have found something that works and no longer gives you the discomfort you were once having to put up with..

Aww Mark, you're taking some punishment for what some of us have experienced with other products. Thanks for being willing to set out your stall. Whilst this OAP isn't involved with our pass arounds it's always generally appreciated when producers trial or invite responses for any products. And you are entitled to expect an open minded and truthfull personal evaluation from those who give it a go, let the chips fall where they may. So, any of those involved in current pass arounds willing to contact Mark and see who fancies trialling the system ?

Thanks for putting up the photo Gordy. I sometimes feel that When I've mentioned my own skin flaring up it can seem as if I'm making more of it than it really is. Good of you to be willing to show the condition.
