I'd say the shave between the Aristocrat and the 87R aren't too dissimilar but there's more audible feedback from the 87R. The Aristocrat is a beautiful razor though.

I had my suspicions confirmed on this shave. The Watchman is a beautifully scented soap with excellent performance but it gives me a tiny amount of irritation- normally noticeable on the second pass. Sadly I must move it on.

Fri 22 SOTD
Soap PAA Cavendish
Brush Yaqi 26mm Orange Black
Razor Yaqi Brass
Blade Shark SS 23rd
Aftershaves Stirling Witchhazel Orange Chill + PAA Cavendish Splash
Top favourite soap in combination with the splash. Rich, creamy and slick lather with a heavenly scent, for me lah....
Today's razor is good but choice of blade is not. Managed 3passes without any issues but was really scrappy during atg for a ccs result. The matching aftershave was super...20220422_123030.jpg

Boti 23mm Boar - Wilkinson Sword Stick - DS-D.8-C/Treet New Steel - Yardley Classic

Even though my heart wasn't in it......it was a lovely 3 pass shave.
Now for the vet.......

Razor: Green Cult Razor
Blade: Astra SP, 1st use
Brush: Omega #625 silver tip badger
Bowl: Captains Choice Copper Lather Bowl Standard Bowl
Preshave: PAA Cube Unscented Soap
Soap: Stirling Shadow Orchid Puck
Aftershave: Tom Ford Black Orchid EDT
Balm: L’Oréal All In 1 Moisturising Cream Balm
Additional Care: Osma Laboratoires Alum Block

Wow! I have a new mildly aggressive razor on the Den and after one shave I’m impressed. Yes it’s definitely less refined than my old Blackbird but once the angle is right it’s arguably as smooth and efficient! That fresh, very close shave feel I got from the Blackbird is back, a little stinging from the Alum but in a good way. Could have had a very good DFS at 2 passes, BBS in places but went for the third and was pleasantly surprised. At £40 it’s a massive winner for me! Yes the handle does slide a little but it will be easily replaced, that the only minor negative I have and that’s being picky.

Thanks Chris. She worships me almost as much as I do her. I just hope I never have to decide between her or my wife!
I hope all is well Brian, we tend to think the worst when we love our dogs so much and end up putting ourselves through the mill, try to be positive for both your sakes.

Paul.

Prep: Face wash with Simple face wash
Pre: None
Razor: EJ DE89
Blade: Astra SP (1)
Brush: AP Shaves - Lemon Drop
S Soap: Murphy & McNeil - Naid
Post: L'Occitane - Cedrat

First SOTD for April due to a busy month so far but hopefully things will calm down and even post more than once a week.

Inspired by one of @Blademonkey 's SOTD last month, I decided to spend April revisiting the very first DE I used: Edwin Jagger DE89. As many of you find when revisiting razors after accumulated hundreds of more shaves, things are different. It's now nearly 4 years since I last used a DE89.
I managed to get another one (as the first one I sold off) and add it to my den as it deserves its place as the very first. A lovely shave which confirms my love for mild razors. Coupled with and Astra SP it worked its magic to a BBS finish 3 passes later. A genuine pleasure to use.

The soap was on its first outing and first impressions are great. Quick lathering resulting in a dense and cushioning lather exuding a mellow floral bouquet. Just need to now get my hands on the matching AS or ASB.

Apart from the facewash all gear is BST purchased. Another big thank you to all of you generous TSR members.

Wishing a great weekend to you all!

The more i use this razor the better the shaves i am getting, they are smooth, comfortable and efficient. No blade chatter or feel which i like, no indication it is ever going to bite at all. The ERA is giving me very similar (and very good) results as the WS-D2 and \ PILS. What's not to like.
I have also really enjoyed "the Fat" this week and may even try "Mitchells May" next month, not sure yet.
Anyway,
Stay safe and enjoy your day all.
