A wonderful shave, even with the well-used blade. There may have been some controversy about Paradigm's business practices on other shaving sites, but I don't think anyone has made better razors, IMHO. And the vanilla and tobacco scents went together beautifully.

As a relative newbie that’s a lovely razor, but what we’re the issue with the company?

Preshave: PAA Cube Unscented Soap

I decided to give the OC a go today and it proven highly effective and efficient! I have fairly fast growing stubble and after yesterday’s two pass shave I had slightly more stubble to try the OC out with. Well it didn’t mess around and I was done in 2 passes with only a couple of pickups necessary. Obviously it felt closer and more efficient, but even with my limited Open comb experience, never felt like it was going to bite or be too aggressive. Tick the open comb off as another win, however I’ll be back to the solid bar tomorrow as it’s too close to use everyday.
Trying very hard to find a negative to bring balance to my review but can’t! I think I’ll pass it on to the next tester on Monday, not because I don’t enjoy it, because I really do, but I’m not sure I can add more feedback to Steve @AlphaShaving! Don’t make any drastic changes to this prototype, it really doesn’t need it!

SOTD, Thursday 23 and Friday 25 March 2022

Pre-shave:
Hot shower, Wright's cold tar soap, followed by cold water splash.
Soap: La Toja - shave stick.
Brush: Blackland signature.
Razor: Asylum Rx - V2.
Blade: Kai Captain (Pink) (day 1 and 2).
Post: Cold water splash, Myrsol formula K, followed by Mugso Real Classic Aftershave Balm.

Get into DE shaving, the blades are dirty cheap, last ages, you will save a fortune - bitten again :)

I had a few sherberts in the house last Saturday evening, had some birthday cash sitting in the bank ccount, wondered onto Connaught Shaving - meant to click on the 'Razor blades' tab, but fate took me to the 'Safety Razors' tab.

I was faced with the Asylum Rx - V2 - I had seen the V1 before on SOTD, and I was interested; on reading a few reviews I decided to go for it. On opening the wooden box (Thursday) the experience felt, well weird; the razor was wrapped in a white cloth - frankly it looked like a shroud.

The Asylum head looked like an old fashioned hoover attachment I remember from a museum many moons ago - first pass; it felt as if the stubble was being hoovered off - very smooth and efficient; the concensus on the reviews suggested keeping the face of the razor aligned with the skin - worked a treat.

2 passes later (WTG and XTG) BBS - a slight sting from the Myrsol formula K on Thursday and a little razor burn - gone within 30 minutes - no issues on Friday.

I enjoy shaving with SE razors; the Asylum and the Vector for me are in a similar stable - they feel intuitive - a joy to shave with.

Rubbing the face as I type - still feels dam good.

All the best,

Chris

That's why the outer tracks on a 12 inch 33.3 rpm lp sound better than the inner tracks, also why singles are 45 rpm.

And much to your delight my final shave for this SOTD week and one themed, 'The return of the donkey'

20220324_200326.jpg
Donkey Kong - Ikon B1
King donkey - Polsilver Lodz
Little donkey - M&S mini Cashmere
Return of the donkey - Savonniere du Moulin
Big donkey - John Holmes

'Mmmmmm'

A wonderful return to the Savonniere du Moulin and so nice to have donkey cream on my face again. The mini Cashmere couldn't be a better partner as this soap really needs a smaller brush for pick up. And what a superb soap to boot.

The Ikon doesn't pretend to be anything else other than aggressive, but get it right and an ultra smooth and superbly close shave prevails. This time was no different and very happy bunnyism was the order of the day.

Have a great weekend you wonderful folk, and don't forget, I love you all

And a new video of some Beaver to see this week out. Enjoy
