Fresh ProGilde cartridge ... it's a new one that I got with the hypebeast set and slightly different to the older ProGlide (pre 2021?) in that there is a micro-comb between the fins and the first blade, like the old ProGlide Power cartridges. From what I can make out on the Gillette website, this is indeed a new thing for the non-power ProGlide.

My stash of ProGlide cartidges is from before 2021, maybe 2018 ... either way, it was when the supermarket had a huge markdown on a multi-pack, so 12 for £18 or something like. I keep my eyes open and buy them when they're cheap(er). I was mulling over price per shave and got to thinking ...

I get 10-12 shaves from a cartridge before I can perceptibly say that the initial performance has genuinely started to wane. Yes, I could get more shaves but then I also could from a DE blade but choose to stop when the performance has dipped. Compared to DE blades, yes, it's still expensive at something like 10-15p per shave but then again, pretty much on par with, say, a Feather Professional blade which for me also comes in at about 10p a shave as I get maybe 7 shaves from a blade costing £15 for a pack of 20.

I guess I'll get a handle on whether I think the microcomb makes any difference at all after a few more shaves. I am enjoying that consistent yet no-frills shave from the cartridge format which allows me to really enjoy the soap and brush combo after a good while of focussing much more on the razor and blade combination.

A late one for me as i wasn’t going to bother but after a bed time shower i decided on a shave.
I went for the Arko which i previously grated in to this dish.
The Razor was a first for me and a wonderful recommendation from TobyC.
I can’t thank him enough.
At this moment in time although it’s early doors i would say it’s my favourite vintage.
The angle of the shave is easy
it’s a pick up & go razor unlike the fat boy where i have to think about it.
The blade was the Vintage Sheffield Special on the third use.
The dury was out on this blade for me over the last two shaves but it excelled on this shave.
Overall this was a 9/10 shave.

Uneventful shave with razor and blade pairing. 3passes for a bbs/dfs result. Nice cooling aftershaves.
Wow...after 29 days of super-slow internet, finally appreciate the meaning of speed! Now I can see the rest of the postings!

Greetings,

Early Morning Shave,

It's been a while since i last used my Parker 94r which paired together with the Treet carbon classic very nicely with no issues making a smooth efficient razor & blade duo...The hefty weight of this small very effective razor adds to it's wonderful assertiveness.

Last outing of the Treet carbon classic blade which started to feel rough on the second pass quickly losing it's smoothness....That said, it's done considerably well for it's 4th outing, and has still gave me giving me acceptable shave's throughout the week without any major issues.

An acceptable 2 pass + pick ups DFS shave with no errors to report....Finishing the shave off with a small dollop of L'0REAL Soothing Birch Sap PSB.

My face is feeling smooth cool, & smelling divine.;)

Stay safe, and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.

Not the most enjoyable shave I've ever had but certainly not the worst, needed more passes to get the job done than I had time for.

I won't judge all injectors based on this one but it doesn't give me the itch to get another, though saying that I still peruse the bay looking for one from time to time.

Hope everyone has a cracking day!

Cheers

Wednesday & Thursday - glad I spelt them right today! :)

Yesterday I used the ball-end Tech loaded with a Perma sharp. Decided to go spicy and had a Stirling experience. I did find that as with some of the lighter Tech versions, such as the Falkland's era aluminium one, needed a fair bit more pressure to get the results wanted. In the end though, 2 passes was enough for DFS

GC.68 loaded with an Elios. Smooth, but took 3 passes to get a DFS, although I would say pretty close to being classed as BBS. The DG soap was great, lather stayed in the brush, but thankfully as I didn't have meetings first thing, didn't need to rush so bowl lathered with the mysterious space badger and had plenty to go around, even the wall and the floor.

Have a good one.
Gary
