random thoughts and questions - all things shaving

@saj1985 My guess is that it's brands that have a strong presence with professional Barbers that continue to generate demand for halved DE blades for their shaper razors. Turkish Barbers are the first that come to mind, hence Derby & PermaSharp. Lord from Egypt, Treet from Pakistan and SuperMax from India. Vertice, too (also from India) producing EuroMax. Those brands have strong market presence in those regions.

Demand ... they're not making them that way for fun!
What's experience do you have with SE produced blades? Do you find they work the same as their double edge counter parts?

I was thinking of grabbing some SE blades but part of me is like I got so many de blades it's not exactly difficult to snap one in half lol

They're the same blade edges. So, the same ...
But, because they're not the full blade, the razor itself might not bend/twist them as it would with a full blade. You can try this with any DE razor by just putting a half blade in and comparing the shave.

If you got a vintage razor, brand new in packaging would you use it or keep it the way it is in the packaging?

I've been thinking about it a lot but one day these razors belonged to someone else now they're long gone but there razors are still around today, did get me thinking that someone will one day use my shaving gear when I won't be here

I'm a user, if I happened to get new old stock razors or whatever I would take great pleasure in using them.
That's what they were made for. :)
Yea I feel the same too, unless I've got a couple of those razors which are brand new packed then I'd keep one the way it is

any used those super max cartridge razors in savers?

Seems there's a few available like 2/3 blades etc for like a quid each too

Anyone ever tried using two de blades in any of the de razors you got?

I was thinking of cutting a spare de blade to act as the insert in between two de blades, bit like the insert you put in between the saiver 2.0 de razor (number 3 in the pic and look at the vid below to understand what I mean)

Saj, you need to get a brew and spend a bit of time away from the Internet - YouTube in particular.

I have lots of mint unboxed razors that I have in my collection, I usually get at least two of everything so I can use it. However, I now have 20 unopened Schick type L injectors, and 30 Schick Tracers. I generally only have one each of vintage Wilkinson Sword DE razors..

Random thought relating to Mitchell's Wool Fat - has anyone tried the hand soap? Throughout the CV19 pandemic and using hand gel, I have developed dry skin. Always using hand cream!

Curious to know if the hand soap is as good on the skin as it's shaving sibling........my guess is that it will be

I regularly use it. I have one pack left.
It's just as good as any other premium soap.
