Scent of The Day

Fragrance of Arabia Cedar Wood - Billed as "a noble aroma of soft cedarwood over fine violet and orrisroot & sandalwood" and while it's not as scattergun as, say, Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel it's shooting at the same target ... with far less ingredients! Really, I'm picking out the violet to preview my use of Wickham's Parma Violet soap this evening which I find works really well with Puig Quorum aftershave ... and both should pick up and compliment this further.

I just had a spray of a tester of Paco Rabanne Phantom which is a new scent. They say citrus and lavender but I got very sweet cloying vanilla and woody fruity notes. I'm not much of a scent connoisseur so my description is rubbish but it smelt 'modern' and young or informal, not classic at all and I don't think it's for me. Obviously a very personal thing. Pleasant, but too sweet and powerful. I think I prefer the "normal" PR.

Davidoff Cool Water is one that I really should have tried, but as yet have not. Being a Puig Quorum, Aramis Aramis, YSL Kouros kind of fellow, am I likely to like this? I'm looking for a marine scent as an excuse to use my Wickham's South Sea Spray soap more ... if it's a classier Blue Stratos, then it would be about perfect. Thoughts?

Actually, spotted a bottle at the supermarket ... yoink! It's not a punch in the face frag but pleasant ... yeah, I think I'll enjoy this.
