PAA Cube container

Ok, the lid is still being a bugger to print so I’m going to give it another go as I was close this time. I’ve bought some black and the result is much nicer. It’s by no way a ‘smooth’ finished product, my son and I are still getting to grips with the process but by all accounts a little modelling filler and sanding then finish off for spraying or finishing as you like. However if you want one and are willing to have a slightly basic container I’m happy to print them off for you to ‘finish’ I’m happy with mine as being slightly rougher round the edges. As I suspected I had to increase the size of the original container as the white cube I originally printed didn’t quite fit the brand new cube is. I’ve scaled this up and now it holds it great. Anyway I’ll make a list tomorrow of those who’s shown interest to see if you’d still like one. We only want enough to cover the costs of printing and a little for my son to put to his pocket money. If you think you’d like one, I’d say we’re looking £7.50 plus postage if you think that reasonable? It should cover the roll of filament and packaging etc.

Absolutely, looks great.
Commend you on perseverance and the fact you thought of it in the first place.
Well done Lee.
I’d love to take the credit I was looking for a container to put it in on thingiverse, (a website for 3-d printing designs) and found the design. It does need work to adapt it though as it was too small originally.

At last, I’ve finally cracked the lid! It’s been a pain as because of the design any indent or over hanging part of the lid would need supports, (think weight bearing scaffolding) to hold it up as when hot and soft the plastic will sag and the little layers the printer uses separate. This lead to weak areas in the lid depending on the orientation you printed in. Printing on the thin edge, will lead to a nicer, smoother finish as minimum part of the lid touches the base of the printer. However printing this way leads to a weakness on one edge which leads to a split as can be seen. Printing the lid face down has been the key with a few supports. This leads to a much more solid design however the finished article is solid as a rock as most of the lid prints face down providing a solid base for in to print on top of. However this has led to a slightly less glossy finish.
Long story short I think it’s as good as I can get it on my current printer and set up. You can always sand, file and finish the look if you like. However I’m happy as it is just to have a solid container that holds it well.

I hope £7.50 plus postage, which I’ll check tomorrow, is a reasonable price I don’t want anyone to think this is a high end artisan product because it isn’t and your free to find a 3-d printing service and to mess around with the settings to get it right yourself obviously. I only really started it to find a container for my 1st cube as the shipping from PAA to the UK is extremely high for their stand, and because the 2nd menthol version fills the bathroom with menthol whenever the showers on regardless of whether I’m using it! It will take a day to print each one so let me know if your still interested. If so please pm your details, plus a colour choice from black, white, red, blue, grey matt, grey metallic or rainbow.

Here’s the first two done I’m packaging them up and getting postage costs tomorrow so I’ll let you all know a final price then.

They look fab Lee, thanks for your time and perseverance to get them to the standard you have, these things often need a certain amount of tinkering with to get them perfect.

Paul

They look brilliant! I'm half tempted to get a cube just so I can have one of those boxes.
I have been using a PAA Cube for a while now and I can definitely say they do offer a slick shave and enhance any soap it's used with, I've seen it said that a glycerine soap would do just as well but I have tested that theory and it doesn't stand up (IMO).
The cube has a lot more going for it than glycerine alone.

Paul.
