Muhle companion

I don't want to buy anything. But temptation can get the better of me. Fortunately I was swayed more by the AP brass handle with a big Cashmere.

The Companion looks suave and elegant. The Futur looks like and behaves like a hammer.
True, but least the clone only cost me a few quid and does at least now shave in a straight line after some tweaks  There is zero chance I'd have been interested in the original at over £50 though o_O

Well Machete17, any more further usage & thoughts? Mine won't be here until Fri. (In theory).
Yep mate, basically I’m using the muhle in my daily rotation shaving razor. I can confirm what I said in the previous posts...
Excellent and comfortable performance, still rather use the muhle instead of the henson because of the weight and of the different angle(not forced like the henson).

Mine arrived early on Thurs. and will use it Friday morning. I really like the looks of the head, so I decided to unlimber the ol' calipers and did some measuring as this is somewhat different. As a benchmark I measured two other razor heads for comparison to give you guys some perspective.

The head on the Mühle head is as follows and of course since I am not using NASA spec tools there is a generous + or - involved:

Length 1.915" 48.641 mm
Width 0.98" 24.892 mm
Height 0.320" 8.128 mm

RazoRock Gamechanger .68:

Length 1.700" 43.18 mm
Width 0.943" 23.9522 mm
Height 0.272" 6.9088 mm

Gillette English post-war BE Tech:

Length 0.907" 23.0378 mm
Width 0.987" 25.0698 mm
Height 0.330" 8.382 mm

As you can see, the blade tabs are very generously covered in the Mühle and then some. The top cap sits at what appears to be a normal height, although not as flat as the RR. I am very excited to try this one, but I am "afeared" of let down as well. We shall see.

P.S. The safety bars are bare smooth with no striations nor scallops.

Shave #1 in the books.

Out of the gate I just want to say that this razor is not IMO milder than the R89. No sir, I was stunned by the amount of blade "feel" as I was expecting a "cream puff" style exposure shave. Boy was I all wet!! I used my R89 handle as the OEM one that came with the razor is simply too ungainly for me. YMMV. However, the OEM one is very well made with a nifty method of attaching the lanyard.

Someone in Germany has put some thought into this razor. Although it has the aforementioned blade "feel" the resultant shave is DFS to DFS+. I think that if I pushed it I could get BBS, but I don't strive nor need that and quite frankly anyone looking to buy this razor is assuredly not seeking as such as well. I did make a few strokes ATG and it managed well, FWIW.

The head had no trouble under the nose nor flushing up sideburns. On another note, the blade is really locked into place by some tabs that look like they could hold back a bull!! I sensed zero "chatter".

I used a new Gillette Rubie Platinum Plus blade for the shave.

So your feeling was completely different than mine...in my personal mild rankings is between the henson medium and the leaf twig.

I do not own nor have used either of those so I cannot objectively comment. I will add that I had no problem finding the "window" of angle on this razor.
