shaving mugs recommendations

Sorry to hear that, it’s not a good sign have you done anything to knock it ? Or maybe it was already there and you didn’t notice..maybe the hot water caused it to crack which it shouldn’t maybe try and contact them and see if they have had any reports of the same issue
nah defo wasnt there before, really not sure how it couldnt happened because its hardly been moved around,
when i filled up the water it just started leaking at the bottom so i noticed the long hairline crack across

not sure if its worth the effort contacting the seller on amazon as theyll probably say ive had it for a fair few months :/

Might be worth an ask could be an issue they have had before reported by other customers..a product does have to be fit for purpose and therefore should withstand being filled with hot water and should have a life expectancy if it doesn’t meet that it shouldn’t matter when it was purchased it should really be honoured and replaced and if you’re sure it hasn’t moved and been caused by other means then it could be a problem with quality

I had looked at this one at one point but I had noted a warning on the item that it said not to fill it with water hotter than 120F/50C. Think that warning was there more from a safety perspective (burns) rather than the bowl being incapable off handling it, especially as I think it was supposed to be dishwasher and microwave safe, but they may fall back on that if they don't want to replace.

Worth an ask though.

Oh and a random coffee thought, it could also be thermal expansion (boiling water/cold surface), if that was an effect it would obviously depend on the quality of the material and the manufacturing process. There will be others that have done the same thing for years and not experienced this at all!

This is all on the assumption that you are using boiling water of course, so if not then obviously ignore everything I've said!

I'm actually tempted by the silicone dog bowls just for ease of storage and zero chance of damage. My 'shaving bowl' is actually an old fashioned glass jelly mould that I've had in the cupboard for years. It's just about the right size, holds the heat, and the ridges really help whip up the lather. Only trouble is it's a bit heavy and slippery and if I do drop it in the sink it will be a trip to B&Q and some choice expletives.

By the way, if anyone is wondering about my brush rack, it was a £5 bamboo note block holder from Homebase and a bit of attention from Mr DeWalt and Mr Dremel.

you know what ill give the dog bowl a try, any links as to which one is the best one out there to get?

also i wonder if they sell these in pound shops like poundland as they normally sell some pet stuff too

I have a couple of the collapsible dog bowls, in rather garish colours, and they do a decent job in lather production, although their main benefit, for me, is that they won't break themselves or anything else e.g. wash basins, if dropped. I have seen remarks from people who collapse them frequently, for home storage or stowage whilst travelling, that they can split on the folds, but if you don't do that often or at all, then I guess the problem shouldn't occur.

However, my favourite dog bowl is the LickiMat Wobble, which, at a magnificent 6.5″ x 6.5″ x 3.1", is almost large enough to wear as a shower cap as well. It's probably good for the dog, too, and the International Orange version is bright enough enough to wake me up on a sleepy morning.

I haven't bought it yet but this white silicone one might look less out of place in a bathroom than some of the bright colours.

assume large would be the better is the better size to get?

yea thats the one i remember seeing i couldnt find it, i was looking for that one specifically, you reckon its better then the one above your post, the one @hotmetal posted?

Aldi have some in at the moment. I did consider getting one, but I’m a dirty, dirty face latherer so it probably actually would end up as being a dog bowl, defeating the repurposing thing and where’s the fun in that?
thanks mate just had a quick look online and it seems the aldi one has a flat bottom on the inside of it instead of those nodules
