Pears Shaves!

When I head about the PAA Cube (lubricating pre-shave soap) I started digging around to find out more. That led me to Ach Brito Glyce "glycerin" pre-shave soap, and then to Pears. Ordinary Pears bath soap... surely not?

Instead of using it as a pre-shave I got stuck in with the brush to see what would happen (using the soap like shaving stick & face-lathering). The result was a reasonably slick lather good enough to shave with! I might start using this for head-shaving.

It wouldn't be hard to find better soaps but it is genuinely useable. If you were on holiday and goats ate all your shaving soap, a dash to the supermarket would put you back in business.

If you're curious don't buy the orange one. The tarry smell isn't great. IMO. Maybe the green one has a better scent?

The modern Pears soap is garbage. Droyts produce a decent glycerine shaving soap.
It's £3.00 a block and made in England.

@Sabre

Thanks for the tip. I see they also do a shaving soap £2.55 for 125g is very good value.

Website looknatural.uk seems to have a lot of Droyt products and only a 99p delivery charge.
