OK, OK, OK, i know its Vintage month, however, a loaner SE turned up in the post today and i could not stop myself.
Thanks to @Boycie83 for the loan of his lovely Razorock Stainless Hawk.
Because i am on "the Clock" so to speak i completed the first pass with the vintage razor and finished with the Hawk.

A very nice lather from the Vintage soap and brush giving me plenty of lather for the shave.
The first pass went well, WTG - Cheeks and Chin, ATG on the Neck. The finish was pretty good and the blade felt good, again, i may revisit the hones with this one to see if it can be improved, i am still very much a novice on the hones. The steel on this Mysterious French razor is very hard and it took a bit extra time to get an edge on it originally.
I finished off the shave with the Hawk using the standard plate, it seems quite mild, although, i will need to get to know the razor better.
I like it, it feels great in the hand and i like the weight and balance of it, i will continue to use it as a secondary razor to get to grips with my technique.
So, DFS++ finish, feeling and smelling good.
Stay safe and enjoy your day ll.
wow.. a 70 years old soap!!!

Every time i use this little lather catcher (wannabe) i know i have had a shave if i am not 100% on my angles, today i felt a little irritation on the LH side of my neck and LH side of chin, during the rinse off of my XTG pass - all Op error.
I decided to leave it there as i have a DFS+ finish with just a couple of light rough patches, no-one will ever know.
A nice post shave today with the Barts Balm sorting out the irritation and i opened a new small bottle of Vintage 4711, i did get a little stinging where i had gone a bit too close, although it did not last long.
Stay safe and enjoy your day All.

I concur. Which are the proper words to load into a search engine?
@vates & @Jester,
They are "Patum Peperium" Gentleman's Relish pots and there are plenty out there.
Be careful as there are a few sizes, the 5cm are too small for anything, you will need 10cm dia plus for your 70g soap.
Good luck

I Know, i managed to pick up 2 full NOS sets inc a Gibbs Tube and an Imperial leather tube along with 2 razors and 2 Brushes.
The info from the razor boxes has the year of the Festival of Britain (1951) therefore i assumed they all came from that era.
It got the better of me so after a bit investigation i contacted Unilever (Gibbs) and Cussons (Imp Leather) to see if they could confirm.

Unilever could not nail a year but did say 1950,s - 70's
Cussons were much more helpful

Err, I had been using them for a long time
No adverse effects.

Soap - Palmolive Stick
Brush - Yaqi Sagrada Tuxedo 24mm
Razor - Yaqi Katana
Blade - Supermax Super Platinum (1)
Post - Cien Aqua

Today's shave included a few firsts being the razor and brush. Starting with the brush first, it seems to be a classic and I never bought one as I'd already have a few other Yaqi Tuxedos; but without a moment's hesitation the Sagrada is the pick of them, especially one with the right set glue bump (3 of out of 5 Yaqi Tuxedos were sent with really high ones). It'd been a while since I used Palmolive shaving stick as well, I completely forgot how great a lather it produces, it's up there with the very best.
The Yaqi Katana is another product from their line with a very good reputation, and I'd initially been a little apprehensive of it as I had a fear it would be far too aggressive; I have the DE razor head counterpart of it the Cobbed one which is reasonably efficient/aggressive but the blade isn't held with a huge amount of rigidity, I'd say in comparison the Yaqi Katana holds the blade with a touch more rigidity and it was less aggressive than the Cobbed head and less aggressive than I expected, and I was really concerned about the razor biting but it was much smoother than I expected, and paired with the SPMX SP it was delightfully comfortable, so much so I even went in for a second pass (last few days I'd been doing just 1 pass shaves) and my face felt great afterwards.
One of the best shaves I'd had for a while, thanks to those who wrote great reviews of the Yaqi Katana here, your user reports were vital in making my decision and I am really pleased I did.

Anyway chaps, have a good day.
