Traditional Soap

There is still production there, but the cost of Olive oil soap from the Middle East has increased dramatically. Turkish soap is now being charged at the equivalent rate, yet other established manufacturers in the region, who have establishment dates in the 1930's charge a lot less.
What manufactures would you recommend , who do you buy from? P.

I have bought from several eBay or own site suppliers in the last few days and I am very disappointed. I googled last night looking at suppliers in the Middle East, I have sent a few email enquiries which will probably get ignored. There are existing soap factories in Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Tunisia and Jordan.

If anyone asked me, I would just recommend Savon de Marseille from TK Maxx. It can't be beaten on price. But I think Olive oil soap with Laurel is great, and TK Maxx doesn't sell that. Aleppo is now reaching £9.00 for a decent sized bar, or less for a lot smaller bar than before.

I have a reply from one Middle Eastern soap company, let's see if we get anywhere...

I have not read the whole thread so if this may have already been noted: The Harastani family (Syrian soap makers for generations) set up shop in France from 2014 after there factory was destroyed. There soap now uses Morrocan olive oil. The soap factory out of Nablus also does a very good soap, not quite as good as Aleppo, but still very good and can be purchased still. I had purchased Aleppo soap in bulk; after it run out I switched to the Nablus soap...
