@Boru62)
blade - Corrux (2)
brush - Wee Scot LE tortoiseshell
soap - Haslinger Schafmilch
post - witch hazel
a/s - Nivea Sensitive alcohol free
balm - aloe vera gel.
Result - a great restorative shave.
It was between zero and one degrees this morning when I arrived at my first job - cold and very dry air. I'm not going to overdo how cold it was - I can already hear the Canadian members laughing at me - it's cold for Glasgow. I'm a pussy - what can I say? Long day outside - come home - stand in a shower at just below 'too hot' water temperature for half an hour and then a nice relaxing shave to jam some moisture back into my skin. In this situation - my default soap type is a tallow and milk based affair - a bit of lanolin, all the better. Between Haslinger and Monsavon tonight. The diminutive Austrian puck won out - hence the tiny brush to match. A great soap for me - I must try some of the other versions. My second use of the Streamline - thankfully this time not rushed. I was slightly more relaxed but only slightly. I was still paying absolute attention to using it. The Corrux is settling down after the first use - as they do - but still provide a definite feel of the blade on the skin with this razor. Kevin - the owner of the Streamline - suggested that it takes five or six shaves to get properly comfortable using it - I can understand that. For me - assertive - but it didn't bother my skin and delivered a superb shave. Really good. There have been a lot of ER razors in use recently here - some members trying them for the first time, some revisiting favourites - or like me, using a new version of the ER, owning other models already. I had been talking with
@Barry Giddens - we were wondering about what difference it makes in trying an ER for the first time - in relation to the amount of experience you had as a wet shaver before you first picked the vintage up? For me - six or seven years with de's - a slight adjustment of angle in the way you hold the ER's and they were all great, pretty much straight out the box. It's an interesting question - enjoy you shaves - yours - I.
