04.06.17

Following on from the fairly ghastly shave I had yesterday, it felt time to go for tried and tested options!

Pre Shave - RSC Facial Scrub
Soap - Palmolive Stick
Brush - Omega 80265
Razor - DE89
Blade - Astra Platinum (2)
Post Shave - Alum Block/Witch Hazel
After Shave - RSC Balm & Superdrug Sierran Breeze

A fair amount of irritation today, which I imagine was down to my skin not having recovered from yesterday's ghastly shave. Time to leave the razor alone and let my face recover!

Emit the Alum Block for a few shaves and see if that helps....I personally only use alum when i get a nick, it doesn't agree with my skin, and i have skin like a rhino.:D

Brush: Omega 40033
Razor: Hone Type 15
Blade: Wilkinson Sword (1)
Soap: Monsavon
Post: Thayers Rose, Aloe Vera Gel & Old Spice Whitewater

First use of this brush and what a lovely brush, needs breaking in but whipped up a good lather. No scritch and a very nice inexpensive boar brush. Handle is small but still comfortable. Monsavon was superb as always, never fails to deliver a good shave. First use of a Wilkinson Sword blade with the Hone and it was a good combination.

Morning gents,

Yesterday's shave report below. My 16th straight shave. Back to using the Le Grelot 5/8. I had a decent two pass shave. A couple of tiny weepers, quite a bit of irritation though.

Stars of the shave were the Maesto Finest brush, which whipped up a phenomenal lather with @Fox Magnum 1912 soap and finished off with the Magnum aftershave balm, the scent is bang on with the soap and it calmed my skin down well after not the best, but not the worst of shaves. Enjoy you Sunday all.

SOTD - Sunday

IMG_4635.jpg

I wanted to see how the Thomas Clipper would fare against day old stubble, and whether I'd have any notable irritation from it for consecutive days shaving. Astra blade was left in overnight, second outing today. This hair-assassin butchered its way through my flat-lying, dark stubble with no damage dealt to my skin. There are no irritations, no weepers, no nothing! P&B Sanskrit is pure hedonism in terms of scent and feel, especially when whipped into shape with my Maseto 30mm.
Tried out some Tom Ford Grey Vetiver copy today but it doesn't sit too well with me, rinsed it off and applied a Creed Aventus copy oil - much better! This razor is a beasty, that's for sure!

Thoughts are obviously with Londoners and those afflicted, directly or indirectly. Extremism should never be attributed to religion, creed or race in my personal opinion. Someone deemed 'psychotic' can be such regardless of where their beliefs lie. Let's not get caught up in the tabloid coverage and what may or may not have been said, or how the perpetrators are described/imaged.

Pre Shave: Hot Shower, L'Oreal Pure Power Face Wash and Proraso White
Razor: GEM Micromatic OC
Blade: GEM Stainless Steel PTFE (#5)
Brush: Semogue 610
Soap: Wickham 1912 LE Bleu
Post: Alum Block, Cold water and Humphrey's Witch Hazel
AS: Williams Aqua Velva aftershave

The last time I used this razor I used a blue carbon steel blade and while the final result was actually OK finish wise, the tugging on the first pass was really very noticeable and not comfortable. This time with a stainless steel blade in the razor it was a very smooth shave, the area along my chin line could have been a bit closer but having only used this razor twice now I am confident that it can only get better. I am not sure yet how many good shaves I can get out of these blades.

This shave is a small homage to all TSR Londoners and to the U.K. Members in general. Stay strong, friends!

Smooth and comfortable shave... but I had to change the blade to the ATG pass with a fresh one as I started to feel the blade a bit dull and tugging. After the sub the shave finished uneventfully and smoothly.

Greetings All,

Sunday shave.

One days' growth and warm shave

Preparation – face washed with Clique Liquid facial soap (mild)

Pre: Tried no pre-shave lotions today
Soap: Arko
Razor: Merkur 34c
Blade: Astra SP (4th use)
Brush: Molten Brown Shaving Brush

Post Shave: Cold water rinse, Alum then a shower followed by Proraso aftershave lotion (green) and Proraso post shave cream (white)

Being relatively new to DE shaving, I wanted to see what the big deal was with the pre-shave, so went without (everyone's skin / stubble is different so I believe only self testing will do, although I do read and listen to other opinions and trials). Used a soap I am use to Arko (I actually like this soap) but stuck with the Astra SP on its fourth use. Was there much difference without the pre-shave? Not sure, the first pass was fine, but maybe because I had only one day's growth. The Astra SP on its fourth use, again not bad, I did get over exuberant and got a weeper, that was my fault and had a little more irriration which may be shaving with only one day's growth rather than the blade - I need to get to the bottom of that. Post shave feel is fine for two passes (decided not to go against). I may give the Astra another (5th) outing...

Prep: Hot shower Nivea face scrub and face wash
Razor: SE1 with Kronos handle
Razor blade: Proline (lost count)
Brush: Elite Manchurian
Bowl: Little Wren Pottery
Soap: Stirling coniferous (sample)
Post: Thayers witch hazel and Fine American Blend

Second use if the SE1 on loan from @Acer89. I tried changed the handle from the Atlas to Kronos but prefer the Atlas. Also changed the blade from a Feather Pro to a Proline. I've forgotten how many times I've used the blade but it must be up to double figures. It still performed brilliantly, very smooth and sharp.

I had five days growth, so plenty for the SE1 to deal with and deal with it, it did. I even had a couple of hairs ping off, which I wasn't a fan of TBH. I'm sure this was down to the length of my stubble.
I love the shave this razor gives and the end results are impressive.

The MASSIVE soap sample was kindly sent to me by @patw , thank you. You are a gent.
The soap performed well and the scent strength is very good. If you love sniffing conifers, you love this soap.

Have a restful and peaceful day......Stay strong and stay together. X

No disappointment today, despite its reputation for mildness the Bullet Tip to me did not seem at all inefficient, very minor buffing after two passes required, much better then the G-Bar and Push Button. Cap flat and long strokes as designed. SS blade today
