Acquisitions Monday 4th to Sunday 10th March
This arrived in today's post.

A nearly flawless Karl Engels 'Emir' slant. The seller's photos show a bit of dirt and marks, but upon close inspection it should clean off nicely. Well chuffed as I've been trying to snag a Emir for a while.

Re: Acquisitions Monday 4th to Sunday 10th March
Got this stuff a few weeks ago and put it aside till tomorrow (my birthday). But I do confess to having taken an Irisch Moos deodorant out of the first and Penhaligon's English Fern out of the second...

The second box came courtesy of our very own Gairdner. The (full) black bottle is Taylor of Old Bond St. Mr. Sidney a/s and there are also two James Bromley a/s samples and a Blue Stratos sample. I sent him some blades or something trivial like that a while back and he kits me out with all that and the aforementioned Penhaligon's soap - all of the above barely touched.

I think, of all the lovely things I'm jealous of in this thread so far, I'm lusting over Sir_eider's naked lady Valobra soap!

RE: Acquisitions Monday 4th to Sunday 10th March
Arrived today:

A box of 100 NOS Scottish made Perma-sharps plus a number of extras that include some of my "really want to try" list, all courtesy of the very generous Hairsuite - a great guy to deal with.

Big thank you.

RE: Acquisitions Monday 4th to Sunday 10th March
A few bits n bobs this week
  • Four Single Edge razors including a US Gem and a British Ever Ready
  • A couple of Gem blades from a buddy
  • Bottle of Florida Water
  • Bottle of Kananga Water
  • Sex Pistols EdP

The waters came from a friend to whom I have introduced the world of DE shaving and livs in Birmingham. His job takes him out and about and has taken to visiting all the ethnic shops he passes to see what they have in stock.

Happy Days!!

Jon

"If you teach a poor young man to shave himself, and keep his razor in order, you may contribute more to the happiness of his life than in giving him a thousand guineas." Benjamin Franklin

So I've heard. Looking forward to giving them a try. I'd have to confess to a bit of old nationalism being behind my purchasing of Scottish blades (although that word has a whole different meaning just now!). Sounds like a good bonus, them being so good!

RE: Acquisitions Monday 4th to Sunday 10th March
So I have just bought a brush on the bay of evil.
The description said new and unused Kent Brush, and there was a very bad picture as well, which I have attached.

I have no idea what size it is or what type of knot it is, I have a suspicion it could be a Silvertip but I'll wait for it to arrive to find out.

It was only £30.00, so I think it was a bargain, even though I don't know much about it yet.

Once it arrives I will let you know if the gamble paid off.

Difficult to know which model it is from the picture, but even if it's only a BK2 (which I use most days) you'll have an excellent brush.

+1
My eyes, My eyes, that's a bad photo, even if that is just a bk2 that's still a good brush Smile

Why didn't I learn to shave like this in the first place?
