RE: Acquisitions Monday 4th to Sunday 10th March
most of the bits i'm waiting for arrived today, i havent cleaned any of it up yet.

#15 will be re-plated, the rest should clean up nicely

the single ring has br pat no. 2876302 at the top of the internal barrel and H060192 on the band above the knob. are the uk date codes the same as the us ones? making it 1918? also are they silver plated? if so i might try the baking soda and foil treatment.

the floid genuine sample from Hodda smells good, i'll be using that for the next few shaves to see how it performs.

RE: Acquisitions Monday 4th to Sunday 10th March
I accidentally placed a bid on the wrong auction last week (too many tabs open!) and ended up with a bit of a mixed lot:

I was pleased with the Ever Ready (I've already got one) and with what turned out to be a New, which I believe is the same as this set.

But I am totally stumped at the function of this box:

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'll post a dedicated thread as well with more pictures.

FOLLOW UP: After posting it here I think the box is an old steriliser, possibly for syringes.

RE: Acquisitions Monday 4th to Sunday 10th March
Couple tubs of GFT Cream landed (Rose, Sandalwood).

Not fully convinced by the scent but will await a few lathers before judging. GFT has been the best cream for me so I don't really doubt the performance.

Also some GFT Skinfood (Coral, Sandalwood) - already have and like a lot the West Indian Lime.

So it's a lot of Sandalwood (to go with my TOBS Sandalwood Cologne, and TOBS Sandalwood Aftershave gel - love both of these).

What can I say ? The wife really, really, really, really, really likes Sandalwood.

If you know what I mean.

Thanks NTS!

Group buy anyone? That stick has been long discontinued.. Lather is as good as Tabac, only it smells fresh and herby.

I picked up a Crabtree and Evelyn shaving mug off eBay which arrived yesterday. It's in smashing condition (looking at the inside I think it must have been an ornament rather than in use). Very similar to the following:

[Image: $(KGrHqNHJE4FCbLWo+,9BQuhC6IJ+w~~60_1.JPG]

I used it this morning with a Neale's Yard shaving soap - not sure how much regular use it will get. I spent a lot of time chasing the soap around and lost lots of lather over the side.

I will give it a few goes, but may post a request for other users' tips and tricks for these old fashioned shaving mugs.

Arrived about an hour ago, I was all excited like it was Christmas day. Had a look through and will take some 'brush porn' pics for you later. I can see myself keeping a few, not sure which yet.

Your NEW in that lot is identical (except that you've got the card with the original price on it) to the one I bought recently from Erwin (mwertje) here in the forum BST section. Lovely thing - don't apply pressure, though, as it's a long-comb design which is fairly aggressive.

It is a really nice looking razor, I'll take extra care with it - thanks for the advice.

Wow - the Rose is really very good. Kind of looks a bit over the top, and the scent from the tub is a little questionable but on lathering - really enjoyable. Same top end performance as the GFT Almond I've been liking recently. Perfectly matched to my Muhle Retro series silvertip badger - big, fuzzy, decadent.

Pink tinge to the lather - others have reported a brilliant white lather but I can't see how you'd get that out of this.

Definitely a keeper.

That's the one - I think it looks lovely, just not sure quite how practical it's going to turn out!
