Hi everyone,

My name is Paul, I'm 47 and started shaving with a DE 6 months ago (having used those awful cartridge multi blades for years) and I'm now taking the leap to the straight razor. I've just bought a Dovo Special 5/8 carbon steel full hollow ground which I've just sent away to be professionally honed (not ready to do that myself just yet) so I should ready to shave in about 10 days or so!

Done loads of research (you're impressed I can tell) but I'm still mystified by honing and stropping:huh:.

I'm sure I'll pick up some great tips here and look forward to your input.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and thanks also to Lose The Beard for the pointer to Neil Miller's posts, very helpful.

I very nearly sent my Straight Edge to Neil for honing but due to his absence between 9th & 19th March decided I couldn't wait so sent it to The Invisible Edge instead.
