What's with the barber shop creams?

I keep stumbling across yet another London barber shop (they're almost always in London) that has their own cream. They all seem to have two things in common:

  1. Nicely designed branding
  2. They're expensive

I'm talking about:

  • Murdock
  • Pankhurst
  • Gentleman's Tonic
  • Pall Mall Barbers

I'll throw in the likes of these too:
  • The Piccadilly Shaving Co.
  • Neville
  • Men Rock

Are they what they appear to be, which is over-priced Creighton's creams?

I'd definitely say Murdock falls into the over-priced category. It does smell good and the presentation is great, the big class jar great too, but in terms of performance, same as TOBS for me at about 1/3 price.

Not sure about the others but Murdock is definitely a rebrand of another cream.

I think Murdock is quality yes it has the blurb regarding Marshmallow root but still a superb performer. Better than TOBS imo. I really like their pre shave oil and Matt hair paste. They are pricey though.
