making the wedge

hi, does anybody have any advice to offer with regard to the making of the handle wedge? as they are quite small and thin bits of material. i'm typing gently with my left index finger as i just linished it:icon_mad: and lost the wedge too boot.

use a much longer piece of wood or plastic, when you have the desired wedge shape, then just cut the smaller piece off it, that's what i tend to do.

cheers jamie, i'll give that a shot, the other option was to make a little holder. its a shame as it was a nice little sliver of DI.

As an alternative to Jamie's suggestion and if you are using a disk or belt sander, I suggest a piece of double sided tape - I find you can control the wedge shape quite easily, especially on the disc as you have more control. This is particlarly effective if you are using a small piece of bone, horn or stone etc. Jamie's method is obviously better for larger pieces of material.

I do the same as Rob.
Using double sided carpet tape and sticking the wedge material to my finger.
