Dovo straight "shave ready"

@Aaron1983 New Dovo 5/8th..Shave Ready for a Test Drive..This Dovo took the Finest of Edges..I Honed it on Naniwa Super Stones..1 K, 3 K, 5 K, 8 K, 12 K...Ten Sets on Chrom/Ox 0.5 Micron + 10 Sets on Red Rhodium 0.2 Micron..100 Sets on the Strop & its Good to Go..It was Cutting Hanging Hairs before I Stropped it..The Bevel is Polished like a Mirror..;)

This SR Wont Need Honed for a Very Long Time with the Correct Maintenance..:D

I Am Glad You are Pleased with My Work..It Has Taken a Killer Edge this SR & its a Very Smooth Shaver..I Reckon this Will Be Quite a Robust SR for Learning On..The Swedish Steel is Quite Hard..Not as Hard as Vintage Swedish Steel SRs but still Quite Hard..It Will Serve You Well with Proper Maintenance..o_O

Now..You Know what a Proper Shave Ready SR Should Feel Like..That is You're Foundation Now for Learning On..That's the Way it Should have been when it Was Sold as Shave Ready..Unfortunately a Lot of Vendors aren't Selling SRs as Proper Shave Ready..I Will Add..Even By Some Vendors that Claim to be SR Specialists..:D

Yeah for a newbie straight shaver, that is not right at all. I basically tried to shave twice with a blunt blade.

Well..That's Correct..If there was Legislation or Licensing or Even a Set Standard for Selling Shave Ready SRs most of these Vendors would Not be Selling them..Not that I Like Big Government Interference..But..Hey there is Obviously Safety Issues Going on here & of Course So Called Consumer Purchase Rights Getting Sold an Item as Advertised..o_O

Sharpening Blades & Swords has always Traditionally been a "Life Art"..I Have Taught Traditional Martial Arts Off an On For years..There are Very Few People that have these "Life Arts" & if they Set a Standard on Martial Arts Instructors by My Standards there Wouldn't be many Martial Arts Schools Open..The Reason they Don't Set Standards is because the Whole Martial Arts Business Enterprise would be Closed Down Tomorrow..Its a Multi Million Pound Industry of Wanna Be Doe Makers..Largely..:mad:

The Same Can be Said for these Vendors..There is Only a Small Proportion of Folks Take Up SR Shaving but Like Martial Arts that Small Group of People Worldwide is Big Business..o_O

Big Business is a Neo Religion & Always Rules OK..In the Pseudo Name of the Free Market Place..The Masters of the Art of Deception..:eek:

Tried out my new dovo straight tonight which was sold as "shave ready". This is my first straight and my first straight razor shave and it was horrible. It felt like i was ripping at the hairs!! It just didn't feel like it was cutting my whiskers and resulted in finishing the shave with a mach3.
Anyone else bought a dovo and had the same issue?? I just don't feel it was shave ready....
Ive been looking online to find somewhere to get it honed asap....

I was really looking forward to my shave tonight which turned out to be rubbish!

It's a Dovo, which means it's a production line razor, good quality but it's not going to be finished to the same degree as a custom such as made by Nate Zowada for example. If you spend 5 minutes researching online you will arrive at the understanding that almost no razors ever arrive shave ready, even my new Revisor didn't (although it was more so than the Dovo I bought a couple of months later). Send it off for honing, buy a second off of a reputable seller and send that off as well if it isnt shave ready, and learn to strop properly.
