I grew up in South Africa and Southern Rhodesia so I really appreciate a good piece of biltong, not to mention boerewors. I'm fortunate in that the small town I now live in in Canada has a South African butcher who makes positively excellent biltong, boerewors and other South African meat delicacies. With such an excellent supply on my doorstep I haven't found it necessary to venture into DIY. My wife is from the Winchester-area of England and I've found a South Africa butcher in the vicinity who regularly makes darn good biltong and boerewors, so when we make our annual pilgrimage to visit the family I stock up with enough to last the duration of our visit. I'm not sure, however, that too many members of my wife's family fully appreciate these delicacies...more for me then.
