Dating a Streamline

Mine came with an art deco styled case and the streamline moderne movement emerged in the mid thirties so I'd say production started then, no idea when production ceased.

Thanks for that, they do have an art deco look to them, I was gifted one by my bro, cant get over how well finished and built they are, shaves a dream too!

Waits is VERY light on this matter - he makes reference to "1950s British Sets" and shows a picture of a Streamline. He does go well into the '30s for both GEM and Ever Ready, so guess the Steamline (and GEM Jewel) came in thereafter. Deco sets were perhaps retrospectives.

B&B's Wiki states 1930s to 1950s: http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/Streamline_Jewel_and_Ambassador

There appear to be two designs - a slim neck handle with more space for lather dispersal and a wider neck with slightly different teeth. Based on what I read on another forum, the slim neck is the older dating to the 1920s.
