Again, not a massive almond fan and have only tried the croaps such as Cella, Figaro and Vitos of which I preferred the former and the latter and the Figaro gives me a little reaction skin-wise. As to cake, @Count of Undolpho I canna stand marzipan and usually take the icing plus the the yellow peril off Christmas cake. Doth Sinnel cake not have it baked in? Or is it an outer layer like Christmas cake. Mmmm, c-a-k-e!!!
Good advice. I don't even trust me! But you can stick yer marzipan doon the pan! Auld Scots proverb ye ken. [emoji6]Never trust a man that doesn't like marzipan!! Old Yorkshire saying that tha nos.
Simnel cake as I know it has a marvelous gooey layer in the sumptuously rich fruit cake and then a disk of marzipan on top with 12 balls representing the Twelve Apostles on top of that (or Jesus and the twelve Apostles minus Judas). The disk and the balls being dry and toasted to golden in places after baking. I am now salivating at the mere description. Roll on Easter
