Benefits of cold water splash

I see on the forum that some member as part of their prep slash with cold water as opposed to hot water/towel prep most seem to favour, what are the benefits to this in their experience? Cheers.

Pulls the skin in and gives a closer shave, from what I understand. Risks ingrowers, perhaps? I'm interested, too ... what gives?

I vary my shaves between cold water and tepid. I found that using hot water sort of softened up my skin too much and led to razor burn. No razor burn with colder water. Not as luxurious as hot water but I get a very close shave and, as I said, no razor burn. Try it.

Think I'll try it when sunny and temps hit above 20oc! Plus splash of a summer time citrus or bay rum cologne :icon_razz:
