hey is anyone into calligraphy?
If so, how and where to start?

Absolute noob but would love to do Arabic calligraphy

The advice you have been given is excellent. Don't buy a pen, a nib or anything until you've done youtube. That's where you'll get good advice on the best tools for arabic, and where to get them. No point in wasting money..

Looks to me like bamboo stick cut to a flat edge or an oblique edge for left handed use. Dip in ink or pigment. Either way, the writing is heavily italicised.

Pick a favourite word or phrase and get writing it. Embellishments and artistic flourish will come once your hand become familiar with the form of the word. This chap talks about form and composition < getting a nice balance in what you're writing:
