Alum block question

Hi all,

I'm just looking at alum blocks as I thought it would be nice to give one a go.

I've seen one that says it's made from pure Potash. Is this the right type of alum?

Yup - although if it is genuinely pure potash (potassium carbonate), you might burn your face off with alkali burns... pure potassium alum (or potash alum or alum of potash) is the stuff.

I'm going to snatch a Razo Rock before year's end. Been meaning to get one but have been lagging.

What did you go with?

My dad turned up with some alum from the Indian barbers! £2.00 for a block. Seems to be quite nice. Not as convenient as a razo rock but it will do for now.

I've got an osma alum block,had it for about 9months and it's not yet shrank to the half mark,definitly very economical
