I have a Witch Hazel, only a baby yet and needing potting up but the 15 to 20 blossoms it puts out are a joy especially in the miserable winter weather.
When the electric blue Superbums flower in the summer they are very nice and totally different to most other plants in my garden, however my Magnolia is a beautiful plant most of the year. I also have a collection of hybrid rose trees that put the neighbours to shame when in full bloom.
A cut-leaf weeping Japanese maple with gorgeous red leaves at the front of the house. In the backyard there is a huge Colorado spruce. It's 20 years old and still growing; I fear that it eventually will take over a good portion of the backyard, but it's a real beauty.
