Sunday 22nd July PM
5th DE shave
Prep: Shower, Nivea Sensitive Face Wash then Nuage shave oil
Cream: ES Natural
Brush: ES Medium Jock synthetic
Razor: Merkur 34c
Blade: Personna (2)
Post: Cold rinse, Nivea Sensitive Post Shave balm and Agua de Colonia Concentrada Lotion
Not as good today. 5 passes then lots of touch ups from various angles. I was expecting a fair bit of razor burn but was sweating profusely after a hot shower. The sweat along with the ES lather provided lots of lubrication!
Nivea and Agua de Colonia Concentrada Body Lotion produced a subtle lemon scent.
Still enjoyed the “me timeâ€!
UPDATE.....
After about an hour the burn started....in particular my neck either side of my windpipe under my chin. Ooft [emoji91][emoji91][emoji91]
Towards the end of my shave I was really struggling to get BBS under there so used the blade buffing method as shown by mantic on YouTube.
It did work but maybe not best to do that after so many initial passes. [emoji91][emoji91][emoji91]
Threw plenty of balm on and turned the house upside down and shook it looking for anything with Aloe Vera in it. Finally found some aftersun lotion which seemed to eventually do the trick[emoji91][emoji91][emoji91] either that or Fireman Sam was getting a call! [emoji91][emoji91][emoji91]
You live and learn! Did I mention the [emoji91][emoji91][emoji91]?

FIVE passes? How come you felt the need to do so many? How many times did you go over the neck area? Whilst I like the thought of BBS, in reality I tend to pay the price, on the neck especially. If I do an ATG pass, I DON'T go ATG on the neck. Early last week I stupidly forgot this and went full on ATG on my neck. My face felt sore for hours afterwards AND I caught a scar that hadn't quite healed up, so I ended up in quite a mess after that shave.
I'm still trying to decide whether to bother going ATG at all. If I leave out that pass, the shave just doesn't feel close enough on the cheeks / under the jawline, which ends up annoying me until the next shave. If I go ATG, it takes a while for the redness to calm down yet it feels like a closer, better shave. But regardless, I simply can't go ATG on the neck.
After each pass there was still a lot of stubble, even after the final passes. Up until now I've been really lucky as I've managed a BBS result.
Five complete passes in total but even then I wasn't happy with my neck and jaw line, hence I went with the blade buffing method.
I was fortunate that I didn't have any redness after, even when the burn kicked in. Lots of balms seemed to help.
As I said, I've learned from it - don't do so many passes and I'll maybe consider the buffing method for my 3rd and final pass.

Sorry to hear of your pain, we've all been there though. I wouldn't shave for at least a couple of days to give your skin time to heal and recover.
I've found the Personna blades to be on the mild side. The Merkur 34C is on the mild side too, hence probably why you needed so many passes.
I would recommend you try a few blades from Gillette. I've found they have the right balance between sharpness and smoothness. I'd suggest the 7 o'clock range, Nacet, Silver Blue and Platinum. If you have haven't got any of these please send me a PM and I'll send you a few?
I'd also recommend you buy a bottle of British Barber Association After Shave Balm. Yes it's expensive but worth every penny. If you do a search on this forum you'll see how highly regarded it is by other members. It's the only thing I've found to act quickly and sooth after you've had a bad shave. Thankfully I don't have them very often so it will last a long.
